Bobby Jindal. What are your thoughts NT?

And as much as I like Obama, I have to admit that a lot of factors helped him become president that he wouldn't have had in any random election. It took a combination of a HORRIBLE 8-year Bush presidency for him to take advantage of and use against a candidate from the same party as Bush, a HORRIBLE vice presidential pick on the part of McCain, the state of the economy to shift the focus away from Iraq and terrorism.. and then of course a perfectly executed campaign by his own people, helped by a lot of money, a lot more than republicans had. I am positive that this guy Jindal won't have as many advantages if/when he runs for President. Not to mention the first thing that I mentioned, that Americans would rather accept a black president than a Hindu.

while i agree that he might not have a good chance, you cant say it wouldnt be in the right direction for republicans though. They are severely lackingdiversity right now, and in this day and age, diversity is one of the most important things in this country.

I know quite a few South Asians and whatever their religion, they are the hardest working, most serious, most academically dedicated and idealistic Americansthat know. All of them are second generation Americans and in addition to the aforementioned traits, they are some of the best suited for the tiresome andthankless jobs as elected officials. I do not know enough about Gov' Jindal right now but holding all things equal I would prefer a South Asian chiefexecutive over a white one.

Definitely not gonna happen.

Alot of them already have. To some people here in Louisiana, Bobby Jindal is a savior to them. He hasn't even done anything yet in LA except cut alot ofprograms that were great and people already think he's accomplished enough to be pres. If Jindal runs, he will not even get a consideration of my vote. It's funny though, he has done absolutely nothing since being in office but yet he gets all of the credit for the rebuilding process around the state. Ican't even tell you of an occasion where Jindal even came to the N.O. and tried to be proactive in the process. The only time he was here was when therewas a ceremony about re-opening one of the ports in the area. He's only here when it's politically good to be here. Dude is a complete joke. The peopleare not in his best interest.

for the last time..
he's not a "hindu"..he's a converted Catholic

and please don't refer to all Indians as "hindus" if you think that's appropriate... it's not.

I don't wanna judge dude based on looks. Imma have to hear him speak. Which I won't do now cuz I'm at work and kinda tied up. But the fact thathe's Republican makes me frown a little. I'm a Democrat. But I will listen to whatdude has to say. That would be funny as hell. You know how pissed off racist whites will be if we have a black man for prez followed by an Indian one?

btw people keep talking about 2012 theres a high probabilty Obama will be a 2 term president especially if he conquers the current economic crisis successfully. Obama will have to screw up royally like Carter to not be reelected

I guess people don't read the original posts anymore. go to page 1and read what I wrote

The media will go hard (nomo) for Obama in 2012 no matter what.
They didn't even try to hide that they were 'patting themselves on the back' election night for getting Obama elected. If Obama doesn't getreelected we'll see a lot of suicides amongst media personalities.

Obama not being reelected would invalidate his presidency ala Carter. That's the argument that would be made. I don't think it's valid but it willbe the main argument.

Jindal may be the only shot for the GOP.
Obam's failure at reelection would be easier to swallow for the media establishment since it'd be an Indian American replacing a Black American and themedia would pat themselves on the back once more.

Jindal is certainly better than Mccain.

An Indian in American politics?

Must be a Med school drop out.

Typical Generation ADHD post though. Not even a good day after a most historic election and d00dz are already asking "What's next?"

If Bobby J does become President, everything will look, sound, smell and taste like curry.

It's not that at all.

First of all, it's massively hypocritical to say that, because as soon as the '04 election was over and Bush won, all I heard from Dems was what theyhad to do to get the White House back, and the name being tossed around was Obama. He had a great speech at the convention in '04 so it inspired people totalk about him as the candidate of the future.

This election was the final notice for Republicans, who'd been sailing along for years, without understanding the need to inject new energy into the party.Discussions on how to change the party and find new, young blood doesn't start in four years. It starts now, like the Dems did in '04.

So it's no different than four years ago, it's just the script has been flipped.

I know a guy who worked on his campaign for Governor.. Jindal is the ideal Republican candidate.. believes in all of the Republican platforms and what not..only difference is that he's Indian.. which means I will not vote for him.

The Great Republican Hope?
" Quiz:

Which young, thin, non-white, Ivy League-educated politician who has a foreign-sounding name and prominent ears is changing the face of politics as we know it?

Oh … and whose name is not Barack Obama?

Whuh?

That's right, the president-elect may hold a monopoly on current buzz, but some in the GOP are looking to their own whiz kid to lead them out of theproverbial wilderness the Democrats have just left behind.

His name is Bobby Jindal, and he's the 37-year-old Indian American governor of Louisiana.

Right now, for most people, handicapping 2012 probably feels like re-watching the previews right after sitting through a 7-hour movie. Yet some Republicanslooking to resurrect their party from the ashes of Tuesday's electoral conflagaration are already turning to the conservative Jindal, at least at thesearch box.

Jindal's name has surged 350% in searches this week, tied with Mitt Romney and second only to Sarah Palin in 2012-related political queries. Buzz patronsare also reading up on the rising star in a bevy of speculative articles about the future of the GOP.

Jindal has consistently stated he's focused only on winning the 2011 re-election in Louisiana. But UPI is already calling the governor and his family"the other Obamas."

Presumptuous, perhaps. But in 2004, who'd have thought that a first-term African American senator with a last name that rhymed with the country's enemynumber one and a middle name that matched enemy number two's would be our next president?

Stay tuned."

it will be funny to see rednecks/racists/ "religious people"/red states/wawaweewas decide if they will actually go out and vote for him

Why?
I'd vote for him....
because he has the same conservative beliefs that I have.

I'm not a Republican nor a conservative. When was the last time you've seen a Republican vote for Nader and Kerry?

There goes your insinuation that "you didn't vote for Obama because he's not white and you're racist."

Depends what type of GOP'er Jindal is.
