yeah, ive built one a few years ago. it's time for me to build another though, all the parts are kind of outdated. i've only built a computer once, butit took me like 6 hours cause i didnt know what i was doing. but eventually youll figure it out. newegg has good parts too at a good price, so you should lookthere. you could probably build a beast computer for about 800-1000. and a servicable one for about 500-800. might as well beast it up.

What kind of PC you looking to build? For photography digital arts? A nicer upgrade? gaming? or little bit of everything?

Pops built mine for me like a year and a half ago. Games look SUPER crisp & Vista is a charm ( I hate XP w/passion)

Some people like it, some don't.

Ive build about 4 or 5 computers so far, the last two from misc parts. The first time I build my first was the last day of school in 10th grade. I remember Iplugged the monitor in the incorrect plug and got sick to my stomach when it didn't display but was

well, obviously. doesn't take it away from being worthless. and most hardcore builder/pc gamers wouldn't bother with it anyway.

I dont know how it is now because its been a few years since I've frequented computer forums everyday but ive seen the top of the top using LED's insome of the most expensive and elaborate rigs, its really not that serious..

we must be viewing different stuff. most ppl care about their performance than it's looks.

if you are looking to make your own, be sure to invest in a anti-static/shock wrist.

1 shock on any parts...= fried and will cause a major headache later when you try to fix it.

Getting the first one up and running took me about a month..I plugged the floppy power connector into the sys fan on the motherboard and fried themotherboard, cpu, and ram...thank god newegg sent me new ones

Getting it all put together took about 2 hours. Just read some guides and you'll be good..

Actually from my experience, after dudes spend tons of money, time and effort on their rigs. They always want to show them off, there is almost always a post in most PC gaming forums of guys showing off their rigs.

well im not saying they all dont like it. but the once i've seen them "showing off" their rigs meaning their specs being all over the place.

i have an old HP i don't use since i switched to mac.. think i should 'practice' on that before i invest in a brand new rig?

CWrite definitely play around with your old computer...but everything is pretty straight forward when you build your own rig. After that you can learn toOverclock your cpu, ram, or gpu.
