Truth. It is an insult to people of all races to compare gays to race equality.
Word....an insult to the civil rights movement of the 60s and it's leaders....R.I.P.

Say word.
I'm sure Martin Luther King Jr. would want to take away rights from people.
He would be proud to see this.

dont go there homie. . . .

it is what it is dude... You're quick to pull that race card when you damn well KNOW what he's trying to say with that statement.

Ok I'm done with this thread, i cant spend another night filtering through this none sense

I never really knew how badly religion affected an individuals ability to argue coherently using, rhetoric, logic, and rational decision making...it'ssimply impossible to argue or discuss anything with 9/10 of the christians who've made themselves present in this post.
I've said my piece on why homosexuality is not a choice and i have nothing more to say on the matter, its a shame that even if it was, it wouldnt make thepassing of prop 8 any less unjust but of course christians won't see that either.

I've also noticed that since last night that the civil rights movements and slavery have been brought into this...The black struggle and gay rightsstruggle are both civil rights issues...thats about as much as they have in common. The sheer magnitude of the civil rights movements just isnt comparable...Byno means are black rights more important than gay rights, as i said they are both civil rights issues but i cant condone the notion that the civil rightsmovement and gay rights are comparable issues. The idea that it's comparable to slavery? I'm guessing that was an extreme example and surely the posterdoesnt truly mean that so im not even going to go into that one.

At the end of the day prop 8 is discrimination and regardless of YOUR personal beliefs concerning the people being discriminated against, it doesn't makeit OK

But why would you willingly want to be ridiculed by a large part of society? Why would you try so hard to convince yourself you're straight, get married and have kids and still come out? Because it's fun?
It's called covert prestige. People like belonging to an exclusive, minority, group. Whether it be racially, linguistically, whatever. Forexample, some white kids like to act like "wiggers" even though most of the white community would look down at these kids.

I agree that this is discrimination, and it's wrong, BUT in no way do I think one is born gay. You people aren't changing my opinion so live with it. I'm not trying to ridicule gay people or say that I hate them, but they make a conscious decision to be gay. Any straight person could easily decide thathe wants to have sexual relations with someone of the same sex and vica versa.

You had to make a conscious decision to be straight though? I don't think I ever had to do that

MDterps do you concede that fact that homosexuality is natural in the animal kingdom? you are ignoring meand i wish for you to confront my arguments instead of being immature and saying, " You people aren't changing my opinion so live with it." yousound like a stubborn individual.

For anyone who wants to use the "animal kingdom" as a way to support homosexuality. Let me get this straight (No pun). Do you mean the same animalkingdom where dogs hump fire hydrants, humans and stuffed animals?

I tend to agree with what this man is saying.
go end your life......the black struggle has NOTHING to do w/ homosexuals..... you act like its preventing homosss to be together or something.....its just preventing them from being married and if you knew anything about blks you would know that we really look down on homosexuality.....thats why the down low phenomenon is hurting our community because gay men are hiding it from their wives and bringing them diseases and stuff
how would you feel if everyone were allowed to get married except black people?
you sound dumb as hell.....how can you compare race to sexual preference....it's not the same buddy
No, YOU sound dumb as hell. its a civil rights issue, just like the blacks had.

Race and Sexual preference are something that arent chosen and due to one of them, they are being discriminated against and having the RIGHT of marriage taken from them on something that is not a choice.

who gives a damn if you look down upon it? are these married gay couples knocking on your doors asking you to convert? are these gay couples attacking your kids?

YOU

CANNOT

BE

SERIOUS...

People CHOOSE to be gay.

You are in SERIOUS denial if you think contrarily.
indifferent.gif

How are you so sure of this? I love how people always claim this, yet they have Absolutely NO evidence that its true.

so i guess animals CHOOSE to be gay for attention too?
eek.gif
If you really think people are born gay...

Wow

I can tell you now that this argument won't get anywhere because my stance is based on my beliefs whereas homosexuality is a sin. You may agree you may not.

New Testement
1 Corinthians 6:9-10 - "Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God." (NIV).
Romans 1:26-27 - "Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion." (NIV)

and Old Testement
Leviticus 18:22 - "Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable." (NIV)
Leviticus 20:13 - "If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable.

THAT'S what I believe in and apparently the majority of California.

using the bible to argue why being gay is "wrong" is like using a word to define itself...it proves/changes nothing

you obviously missed the whole point of the article.

I just dont understand the whole "homosexuality is a sin so they shouldnt get married" bit. Ok, its a sin. And? So now people who are greedy shouldntbe allowed to marry? People who desire lust shouldnt be able to get married? people who steal shouldnt be allowed to get married now?

But besides that, who cares about religious marriages, we are talking about government issued marriages which give certain benefits to theseindividuals. The Bible holds no $(%#$ing weight.

GOOD POINT, I WANT MY RIGHT TO HUMP FIRE HYDRANTS AND STUFFED ANIMALS

Whether people are born gay or not doesn't decide whether they choose to be gay or not. Fact is, we don't choose anything. Once you understand that youcan change your perspective on issues like gay marriage. I'm fine with people saying that gays aren't born that way, but when you start to say theychoose as if they wake up on a random day and say "I think I'll be gay" is just ridiculous. What I think most correlates to homosexuality is thelack of a parent or father figure.

Nobody is stopping you.

You can right to Build-A-Bear workshop and make you a "thick" bear with HIPS and heels!

Or you can make you a bear with rippling biceps and boy shorts that give you "such a ragging clue". That's on you.

if that was true then the "poor black" community would be having the most homosexuals. and that is not the case.

I didn't say every person who lacks a father figure becomes gay.

i know that. but you hypothesized that homosexuality occurs the most when there is a lack of a father figure or parent.

No I hypothesized that it is a possible explanation for why some people are Homosexual, there are many other reasons beyond that that go deeperthan just the lack of a parent.

yes i am well aware that you are taking in account for other factors but you you said, "MOST CORRELATES" so shouldnt there be asignificant amount of gay black men from low income families since they are the families that lack fathers the most in the US?
