Chris Andersen under investigation by the Douglas County Sheriff's Office Crimes Against Children

Glad to read more has information come out, although many have already fromed their opinions and labelled him as a "pedophile" and "sicko".

Hopefully he has his name (legally) cleared in the coming weeks of the investigation.

This is disgusting if true. He won't make it out of jail if it is and he fries for it. Guards *accidentally* let dudes from other tanks into rapist and pedophiles cells all the time. But either way, they got evidence. Might bot be on birdman, but someone birdman knows is getting locked up for this.

Didn't read this until re-reading an article today...
The Denver Post could not find records indicating the age of the person believed to be Andersen's accuser. The newspaper is not identifying her because she might be underage.

Her Facebook page and other social media outlets present a picture of a young-looking person made to appear older with heavy makeup and adult clothing.

Images show her posing in numerous sports T-shirts, including a Nuggets jersey emblazoned with No. 11, Andersen's number. On Twitter, she sends messages to other high-profile sports figures and celebrities.

So the Denver Post knows who the girl is... NT detectives?

I'm sorry I don't subscribe to that philosophy. If somebody has done something they have already done it so how is saying they are guilty before it is proven helping? Now if it's look at this situation before something happens ok but in this birdman case whatever happened has already happened so I'm not going to say him or anybody else is guilty without facts first. I would hate for somebody that is innocent have that over them forever cause of people like you.

Ill be honest, i had a hard time understanding what you wrote but i get the point you were making.
I agree that, In America, and how are justice system is SUPPOSE to work, you should always be assumed innocent until proven guilty.

But (even tho its even hard for me to agree with it) when it comes to an adult, and that adult possibly doin a child harm, Society, the System, Child care providers, social services, etc etc have the mindset to protect the child involved and that means immediately getting the accused adult away period. I prolly shouldnt have worded it "its best that way" but its how it is.

Lab done analyzing electronic devices seized from Chris 'Birdman' Andersen's house

CASTLE ROCK - Douglas County Sheriff's investigators have received all of the information back from the forensic computer lab analyzing electronic devices seized from former Denver Nuggets basketball player Chris "Birdman" Andersen's home, 9Wants to Know has confirmed.

Results from the forensic exam have not been made public.

The information was returned to investigators the first week of September, Sgt. Ron Hanavan, Douglas County Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer, said.

Hanavan says detectives will now start the process of investigating and reviewing those results. Hanavan called the process very lengthy and time intensive.

The Douglas County Sheriff's Internet Crimes Against Children Unit served a search warrant in May at Andersen's home in Larkspur. At the time, 9NEWS reported that a sheriff's office spokesperson said the investigation could take weeks.

Andersen was cut from the Nuggets roster in July.

Investigators say they searched Andersen's home in connection with a tip they got from California in February.

Andersen's attorney, Colin Bresee, released a statement to 9NEWS after the search warrant was served:

"A female fan in 2010 mailed Mr. Andersen multiple letters and included several photos in which she was scantily clad. Chris and this woman communicated with each other and in 2011, this woman, who represented herself as 21 years of age, flew to Colorado, showing her required identification. After leaving Colorado, she became upset at his lack of interest. In 2012, she threatened to retaliate if he did not provide financial remuneration."

According to the statement, someone purporting to be the woman's mother wrote in an email that "'i (sic) want him to pay for everything on her Amazon wish list, 5K for her bedding stuff and her Victoria Secret wish list."

"Professional athletes are routinely targeted by these types of individuals," the statement said. "The media has been speculating that he's a suspect and not a victim in a criminal investigation. Mr. Andersen has been fully cooperative with the authorities. The investigation is expected to take three weeks. We're confident it will show that Chris did not engage in any criminal conduct."

The electronic devices taken from Andersen's home were evaluated at the Rocky Mountain Regional Computer Forensics Laboratory in Centennial.

i dont care if he was extorted you dont **** with minors. son was communicating with her for 2 years and apparently hit it. thats wrong

After an update on Thursday night that the investigation is still ongoing (Investigation continues of Chris "Birdman" Andersen, ex-Nuggets player), Andersen and his attorney spoke to the Denver Post...

Attorney for former Nuggets center Chris Andersen says legal case not connected to children

The Denver Post

The legal case involving former Nuggets center Chris Andersen has yet to be resolved, a Douglas County Sheriff's sergeant said, but Andersen's attorney went public Thursday, reiterating a claim made last May that his client was duped and then extorted by a woman claiming to be of legal age. The Douglas County investigation involves possible Internet crimes involving a minor.

"What I'd like to communicate is, this had nothing to do with children," attorney Mark Bryant told The Denver Post on Thursday. "This had to do with an individual who represented herself as legal age and then some, and by the way, is and was at legal age."
Andersen, meanwhile, has been working out in Denver and in College Station, Texas, as he tries to make a comeback to the NBA. Bryant confirmed that Andersen, 34, could sign a contract with the defending league champion Miami Heat. Andersen worked out Tuesday for Heat president Pat Riley, The Miami Herald reported.

Last May and Thursday, documents reviewed by The Denver Post confirmed that the woman making a claim against Andersen repeatedly represented herself to be of legal age and that her family later demanded payment from Andersen. Douglas County Sheriff's Sgt. Ron Hanavan said authorities investigating the former Nugget, released from the team this past summer, have received results of forensic laboratory tests of electronic devices and other evidence and are processing the information.

"The investigation is still ongoing," Hanavan said. "Detectives are continuing the investigation."

Hanavan couldn't say how long the investigation would last. Andersen hasn't been arrested and no charges have been filed. In February, a cybercrime unit began investigating Andersen based on still unspecified allegations.

Last May, after electronic equipment was seized from Andersen's home in Larkspur, his lawyers said a young woman from California claiming to be of legal age had asked Andersen for money after he spurned her advances.

Through Bryant, Andersen gave The Denver Post a statement Thursday: "I appreciate everybody that's supported me, and I don't want to say anything bad about anybody, it's everybody's worst nightmare, but I just want to thank everyone that supported me and knew this was a lie from the beginning. They know how I love people, they know how I love kids and they know where my heart has been in this community."

Bryant said he and his client have been cooperative with authorities, answering any questions asked of them. But there are still "clouds out there," Bryant said, because of what he deems an unfair public perception of his client's involvement with children.
"It was never about little children's pictures or pornographic sites or enticement of children," Bryant said. "Never. ... We want to get this stigma off of it."
