Also , by all accounts (from what I've read) they have the environmental issues down pat. For every question, they had an answer

I saw last night on News10 that Brian May said he heard from a league source that the owners were "getting creative" in coming with a solution that would satisfy both cities. Any leaks on that?
Nah no leaks. Just a lot of assumptions and hearsay from sources.... like the Montemayor tweets two days ago claiming expansion is being discussed and Hansen is against it.... which makes no sense because as recently as October there are quotes him saying things like this:I saw last night on News10 that Brian May said he heard from a league source that the owners were "getting creative" in coming with a solution that would satisfy both cities. The more I think about this............. if, in fact, expansion is being discussed for Hansen.... with the team getting there as soon as they can either put shovels in the ground (and play at Key Arena in the mean time), which is unlikely, or as soon as the can open doors to their new arena which could be anywhere from 2016-2018 (probably 2016, I highly doubt those reports of Hansen claiming they could open the arena by 2015 because that would make him a Maloofing liar).
There is absolutely NO WAY he turns it down. He is a smart and capable businessman, on top of me a loyal and dedicated fan of the Sonics.
In what world would he turn down something that would be 100% certain, as well as legitimately, would bring back the Sonics?
Like even the business side of him would say to take it.
Why jeopardize devastating and letting down the entire state of Washington for the need to to do Sacramento as OKC done unto them? Selfish reason? Impatience?
I just don't get it.
Because after all, Chris Hansen is no Maloof.
Just in time, the Bee enacts a paywall. I'm sure the timing of this was completely coincidental.

But expansion would cost less than relocation, he'd be jumping into the time frame where no teams would be losing money, and the team could play in the new arena immediately as opposed to playing in Key Arena. Expansion would be much more logical and business sound...if it were offered.I don't think it's impatience. I think it's the fact the opportunity presented itself, and he's made it this far. Getting turned away would be a huge letdown, and set his efforts back at least 3-5 years. Also, the NBA better guarantee expansion in writing (with blood) to go along with that new arena. Because he's not breaking ground with anything less.
Of course, all of this mess could have been avoided if Stern and the league hadn't so willy nilly let franchises move in the past decade-plus. But that's why we're here now. If Stern is fretting over it, he only has himself to blame.
Not if he got business partners involved. Since Vivek is bringing in 3 other owners, it's not like they're each buying 65% of the franchise, They'll each get 15-16% if split evenly.Ehh I don't know if expansion would be cheaper since he'd be buying into 100% of the franchise rather than the 65% he's buying from the Maloofs. Plus if expansion happens after the sale, what would the fee be compared to the $525M price tag the Kings just went for? $400M? $500M??
crazy to think that, if the Kings stay, it will be the first time in over 20 years that the Kings are truly safe..... and to think of all the sellout seasons Kings fans gifted to Jim Thomas
Jim Thomas wanted to move the Kings, told Maloofs "good luck moving them" as he failed. SAC owners were concerned: twitdoc.com/1ZSM

So here's the update- the big question is no longer CAN the King stay. They control their own destiny. NBA aggressively vetting group.

The question is, CAN the local group fulfill all the tasks the NBA is laying out? Very short timeline. If they fulfill, the team will stay.

Local group as in the ~25 local investors or Vivek/Mastrov/Jacobs and crew?I should have included his next tweet.
