But it's a starting point. You have to at least come to the table to start a negotiation. This way, an arena deal is at its beginning stages. You would at least have the political backing along with the fan support to, per NBA Constitution, block relocation.

The vibe I got from watching it was that the initial blame of why the Sonics left was on the local government. And then Bennett capitalized on the city dropping the ball.Actually I have seen it. ^^^But then cant they sue? I mean I am a HUGE Kings fan and I just wanna play devils advocate now. If I am the Maloofs, I would be pretty pissed if the NBA does not let me have 75 million more dollars. Thats almost 20 more percent of what I am getting now.

Let's think of this in relational terms. If someone has been faithful to you for the past 14 years, stayed with you through thick and thin, offered to build you a new home, and even offered to put up most of their money despite your repeated attempts to cheat on you, would it be right for them to then leave you because someone is offering them more money? Would it be right for them to take all of the possessions that you two have joined together for that time?
When is enough, enough? Even if they are getting more money, the family has repeatedly shown that they are neglegent with any and all business ventures they come into contact with. I am convinced that no matter how much they make off of this transaction, it will all be gone within 15 years. There is not one business that was inherited from their father that is still in their possession or existence. I understand that Hansen & Balmer are extremely motivated to get a team, but if this new deal goes through, it will be a terrible precident to continue for tthe NBA from a loyalty standpoint. What's the point in a city doing anything for the league if an ownership group can just pick up and leave whenever they want. If that is the case, no city in their right mind will be willing to put up taxpayer money for an arena.
