Was an intern/co-op while in school.

So, I took a 2 month break after I graduated and started working full time at the same company just in a different division.

3-4 months even finding a decent job. Nope it's a part time seasonal job, for now (just lucky enough to have something to pay the bills at the moment).

Trying to find a career job within the next 2-3 months seeing as it's not going to be enough.

This.

I didnt co-op(didnt want to get behind in my studies), but I've had internships every summer since I've been in school. It's tough out there, andinternships are an important part of setting yourself apart.

Yup.

Y'all definitely gotta get those internships/co-op's man.

If you don't you're just making it that much harder for yourself.

It's not a guarantee that if you have an internship that you will land a job.

But it certainly does help

I asked this in the other thread but i should have come to this one..whats the best time to send out your resumes..Before you graduate or after? By before imean a couple of months pre graduation

Graduated in May, got a long term temp position in August.

I have a CIS Degree and I'm doing entitlement processing.

Before you graduate. Just give you an idea of how tight the job market is entry level jobs are now being taken by people with experience andover-qualified.

In today's market, its very tough to find a job, college educated or not. In fact, with the pinch on the economy and the influx of bachleor's degrees,it makes it more difficult. The only true way to differentiate yourself is to get some sort of graduate/professional degree, or tactical experience in yourfield of study. IMO

It took me 4 months to land a PT gig as a Project Support Specialist with a research foundation. I graduated with a degree in Public Comm. Getting a job is allabout experience these days. After I left my last job, it took me 5 months to get the position I have now, which is a research assistant.

Well I'm pursuing my masters in occupational therapy. I'm almost there. The job market is great for me(not a lot of black men in the profession). Justgotta handle my biz.

Graduated in May '08 with a degree in sports management. I gave the job search about a year, nothing there.

Started a job in September as a Paraprofessional in a jr h.s.

I love it. ill be going back to start my masters in education in January, and hopefully in 1 1/2- 2 years ill be a full time teacher for the NYC dept of ed.

I started working less than a month after college let out....but I had the job lined up since the summer before I graduated.

Luckily I graduated right before the whole recession started.

Are you saying that like you're surprised?? A Princeton graduate is doing secretary work at my roommates job.

Graduated in December '07...got job offers by March...didn't accept a job until the following September. Glad I waited for something I really wanted, rather than settle for something sub-par. At this point, though, you might as well take what you can get as the unemployment rate continues to rise.

Internships and previous experience people....grades mean nothing after school...

I was fortunate, the job that I was an intern at hired me right out of school. That was a blessing from god.

Submitted my resume to at least 40 different companies, interviewed at about 10, 2nd round interviewed at a handful of those, and had the job offer I ended upaccepting... before December of my senior year (May 2006 graduation date).

Make sure to visit your school's career center and take full advantage of every resource available to you -- from alumni networking, career fairs,on-campus recruiting visits. mock interviews, resume prep, etc. Start early and cast a wide net.

may 2010 graduate. haven't looked into finding a job in my field, but i'm not worried...yet
Dont make the mistake that I made. I graduated in May 08. I wasn't thinking about a job because at the time I was working retail and wasdoing good for a college student without too many bills. Fast forward a few months bills started coming in and other expenses that I didnt have as a studentsuch as utilities and insurance. to make a long story short I just got a decent job with wachovia so things are looking good. You should start looking foremployment now though.

grad 06 (damn, i'm old)

found a job in 6 months (it was a long term temp thing). nothing to do with my major but it was still a job.worked for about a yr and then found a job at astartup. typical startup environment. worked there for a yr, but the place was hit hard by the economy. people laid off, eventually folded. been out of workfor almost a yr
