For a person who screams about the ills of socialism, you should get out of this country then, Because much of your life has had socialisminvolved.

And go to your Conservative Utopia of no regulation capitalism, because we did away with it because it DIDN'T WORK..

You are right, The United States is on its way to being a socialist state. We had Fascism under Bush, and we'll have Socialism under Obama.Capitalism does work when you let it. The cause of our current situation is government intervention and regulation in the economy. I agree with the others whosay that survival of the fittest should be the method of an economy.

regulation is the cause hahahahaha.. Look at Greenspan who has been pro-deregulation his whole economic career and his lack of ability to watch the financialsystem is largely the reason for our current situation. He, himself has admitted his philosophy that he has held for decades was dead wrong..

I will give you a quote and you can look it up and everything surrounding it at that time: "Bust the trusts"

edit: JChambers you do know we have has socialism for over 100 years in this country right?

thanks essential, i was going to reply with something very similar.

It's nice to think we should just have completely free markets, but when you have corporations already running the government as it stands, I can'timagine how wild they would run without regulation of any sort.

It's amazing to me how little people actually know about economics.

Craftsy, you do realize that when it is a case that business, big or small, has control over government, that that is the opposite of free enterprise inaction?

When people want less government and less regulation, that includes those things that helps business. When people talk about regulation, they usually think ofrules that reduce a firm's profits and rewards workers and consumers. Regulation, however, also includes those things that reduce firm's loses orincreases its profits at the expense of taxpayer, competitors and consumers.

Using that inclusive definition of regulation, yes, too much regulation, in the implicit guarantee of bailouts and subsidizing of bad mortgages, created lastyear's financial catastrophes.

a lot of ideas seem awesome before they get attempted, but i'd rather be the one sitting back reading about how others tried and failed.
