ive passed bart written test a few times
but have always declined my interview cause of another opportunity
the first time declined to work for the county
second time
i just didnt wanna be a janitor
which was the job they offered
and the last time i was a my current job
was for station agent
and i get paid more and better benefits
so i declined

work for muni
got fam and friends who work muni
they get paid by the line they work and shift
they all seem to like it
im too impatient of a driver so i cant do it
got a few friends that work for ac transit
they hate it
but good money and benefits
but of course folks at muni make better money

you can’t just go slashing union jobs and if there are layoffs the new guys are getting cut. some dude who has been there a while isn’t losing his job. That’s what’s great, you’ll never get laid off when you’re 50 because you make too much money and they don’t want to pay you.

I Like OT. Boost that unemployment pay up for when I’m laid off in the winter plus you get used to it. I work like 50-60 hours a week in the summer. I don’t trip, if I gotta go or have to take a day my boss doesn’t care, I just leave.

minneaplis budget is strict af with OT from what the city employees tell me

they’re going home while I’m just getting warmed up.

they got it easier but I make more than a city guy plus they don’t get classic straight piped peterbilts.

didnt work thanksgiving
if so woulda got that triple time
but im cool on my double time i got
but all that is built INTO our contract

And yeah, if any twin cites guys want a job... Labor Union is taking apprentices, operating union is taking apprentices, teamsters (truck drivers) is taking apprentices, pipe fitters is taking apprentices, electricians is taking apprentices, plumbers union is taking them.

our ot starts after 8 hrs on a shift
also 40 hours a week of course
double time on anything after 12hrs on a shift
holidays u dont work u get 8 hours of straight pay(all holidays)
holiday hours u do work is all ot or time and a half PLUS 8 hours of straight time
so essentially double time and a half if u work a holiday
and if u work the all 3 major holidays u get triple pay on the last major one(new years)
thanksgiving christmas and new years are considered the major holidays
