The thing I liked about the whole No Limit/ Cash Money era is that they offered you a look into the life of someone from the 'Nolia
From the dialect and new slang to the production. It's like watching a movie

"Loud pipes, big rims
***** that's my life
When I pull up at the club sorry that's my night
I know a lot of haters probably sayin' that that's not right
Well, my diamonds so much bigger
So, that's my life "

I really appreciate you posting this track...I tell people all the time they were trap before all...most trap rappers & producers of today get they inspiration from them.

Now that Im lookin at it, Chopper City In The Ghetto was one of their best albums too.

Its all about Benjamins thats all I wanna have
Ducked off in my house with a *** takin' a bubble bath
Sparklin' marble coverin' all my room floors
A maid in a bathin' suit doin' my house chores
Do not disturb sign on my bedroom door
Cuz my **** gettin' ate by my number one *****
Look I'm money hungry
Bout actin' a donkey
No longer a junkie
I got rid of that monkey
I'm cheeky I don't want you ******' with my ****
My neck and my knuckles covered with crushed out ****
Sparklin' gold cover my mutha******' grill
Pockets filled with big head hundred dollar bills
******' up this rap game with these wicked rap skills
And ain't far from makin' Gs ta makin' mills
I'm a trill B.G. uptown hard hitter
On the real my ***** I'ma money go-getter

400 Degreez is one of the best albums to come out of the south IMO.

...You look like one of them boys that never been ****** over
Im bout to change that. Send that boy to the Nolia
Put a pistol in his face
Make him empty out his pockets
if he think we fakin he gone know after we cock it.

So its pretty much agreed. Mannie Fresh deserves a mention when talking about GREAT producers in hip hop history.

Clean Up Man!
I havent heard this in forever.
Past my reps for today but im reppin you 2mro.

B.G. had that street talk and his own slow talkin swag that was so good on the track.

Spark it up make it happen, grab your piece
You deceased, ******' with me, oh, it's pure beef
Tragedy, homicide, battle me I dare,
Nothin' in between but air, ***** I don't play fair
I come through like an Amtrak, what'cha gone do?
Got a strap but it's on safety, mine ready to let loose,
I hit'cha spot, ****** scatter,
I ratta-tatta, whatever it don't matter,
Hollows come out like blat-blatta

...all in that monotone voice. Such a contrast from all the autotune of today

I've lived in New Orleans for 6 years. Grew up not far away.

These dudes do not play. Violence here makes no sense. Cash Money was NOT exaggerating.

Nah bruh. Dj Paul and Juicy were DJs but they were also producers.
They had samples but also alot of original stuff because they would use their lyrics from old songs and make new beats with them.
But I credit them more with helping create and mold the "Memphis" sound. Basically music you can buck to.
And we have to credit them with the whole getting rowdy in the club thing too.

But even then sampling isnt a dis qualifier in production. if that' s the case we can eliminate Kanye right?
The drums is the foundation of the trap sound

Been pissin on Kanye in recent years

Dude low key is insanely talented. A true musician in the classical sense.

What's funny about Kanye post 2010 is......he felt like he had to incorporate sounds from European techno music, grunge, pop etc for it to "push the genre forward". Kanye would name obscure critically acclaimed or popular European musicians of different genres around the world that were "avant garde" and pseudo intellectual.

Meanwhile, Zaytoven was crafting a sound low key built on Bay Area melodies, Southern bounce and southern baptist gospel music (seriously). Essentially, his roots.

Kanye was incorporating....Zay was CREATING.

Chickens come home to roost. So while Kanye is not getting calls from Jay-Z that he covets........this is happening

Might be the only one but I think Dilla is overrated.

I second shawty Redd, Lex Luther also

NT don't have love for DJ Quik? Pharrell/Neptunes is top 5 for sure. Alchemist is cool, but for my musicial preference he isn't top 5

Zay "I'd rather rap a Zay track than a Dre track" :smokin
Pharrell/Neptunes
