SMH, wow. Black people have been forgiving other races for terrorizing and destroying us for 400+ years. How has that works out for us? If Jean had walked into the home of a white woman and killed her in the SAME fashion he was killed, would forgiveness be pushed? Would he ONLY have gotten 10 years? Would he have been caressed by the bailiff? Would the judge have hugged him, spoke to him personally and given him a Bible? I think not.
