The funny thing is that wasn’t even a “special”. That was just a speech. I wonder if they count these towards his contract.
It was prolly 'just a speech' when he started, but once he was finished everybody probably realized it wasn't. Thankfully the cameras were rolling.

wayan’s admits he didn’t even watch the newest special though. i was entertained by far more than a lot of other media i consume. if one of dave’s “speeches” blows other comedian’s “specials” out of the water, it’s basically a moot point.

I don't understand what point you're trying to make

…as if it would happen in the first place. A good portion of him “blowing up” was him dressing like a woman…and THAT was the joke. Dude just saying that to gain some more fans.

at least he admits it.

you just need to sub "young creative audience" for "upper class college educated progressives"
and the classism is clear.

and that's fine, if Tim Heidecker wants to cultivate an audience college educated culturally processive people
who will clap knowingly at the progressive list of pre approved topics for comedy

cool do you. but he need step off his high horse, and dispense with obnoxious pseudo moralism.

Republicans in the House of Representatives have introduced a bill that would block federal funding to colleges where transgender women are allowed to participate in sports with cisgender women. A separate bill would allow transgender people to sue medical personnel who helped them transition as minors.

Another bill would block funding to schools that disobey state laws regarding "materials harmful to minors," mimicking state laws that have been used to remove books discussing history around race and LGBT themes.

Looks like the GOP has answered the question about the parallels that some deny exist between racial and LGBT issues.

They're both "divisive and harmful to minors," and they need to be stamped out of education (and ultimately, public life).

There's a bigger game being played, and if none of you can see it, you're just not paying attention.

Ah yes, "racism", as opposed to any other form discrimination

I'm beginning to think that racism is the only form of discrimination that "cool, young, creative, smart" people seem to think exists

The article itself mentions other forms of LGBT discrimination for "harmful material"

But no, racism sounds better

Shocking

can we support trans rights and not support them competing against women in sports?

I doubt you get an answer for that question.
Just look at the type of ducking and dodging in the trans-sportd thread. I think they are confused as to where they are "supposed to" stand on this topic. I think they know trans in sports is more complicated than they want to admit so you never get fair convos on this topic with them.

This is a textbook strawman

Are we allowed to sub in our own personal boogeymen when Dave talks about the kind of people he's trying to appeal to?

Given this audience is predominantly white and white ppl have struggled and refused to fully grasp the impact and importance of racism it’s just about right that they’re only able to grasp one form of discrimination at a time.

It was hypothetical

And even if it wasn't, I have no interest in getting you started with another one of your tirades

No, tell us who Dave says he wants to appeal to and then tell us your substitute boogeymam

You made the comparison

When has Dave ever described who he wants to appeal to?

Ah yes, my tirades because I won't be shamed into blindly agreeing with you

I have nothing to gain from entertaining your goofiness

God bless...stay safe from Antifa

God bless...stay safe from Antifa

Can't "explain" Who Dave is trying to appeal to so he dodges completely

Next time make a better comparison

Tim made it clear who he's trying to appeal to

Antifa, woke clowns, I will try and stay safe

it's not a straw man, and it's not a boogey man0
it's the obvious demographic implications of his comments.

he literally says there is a self serving motivation.
which is to cultivate an audience of "cool" "creative" young people.

young people or disproportionally educated and progressive
people who work in creative fields are or overwhelmingly progressive.
the people on the cutting edge of art and culture are almost always progressive in just about every culture

and the people who share this Diversity, Equity and Inclusion mindset are usually college educated.

if someone said "I want to cultivate an audience of responsible evangelical pro life business owners"
that essentially means "upper class conservative", i would call it a dog whistle if it wasn't so mind numbingly transparent.

Tim literally comes out and says it.

I want to be seen as inclusive and understanding
and the side effect is im cultivating an audience of progressive people.

it's not about trans people, it's about being seen as a member in good standing
in culturally progressive circles.

and I really really doubt,
Tim has thought that deeply about whether any of this gender ideology stuff makes sense.
or if the criticism of Dave are valid, or if treating speech as violence is a reasonable way to understand a medium

where the entire purpose is manipulate language to generate an emotional response.

imo he desperately wants to be seen as an #ally, and ****ting on Dave is a good way to do that
