Two years from now you pay to see him and he's going to still be trying to prove he was right?
This is really my concern.

I got no issue with making your statement and drawing your line and moving on. It just feels like this grudge is driving his creative decisions.

Agreed.
He should stop trying to teach a lesson and just make his trans jokes. They are funny. We don't need the moral plight he went on to say them.

They can't answer what specifically is going to lead to harm.

They can't figure who get to decide what is harmful without relying on circular logic.

But I'm the one whose pivoting.

re: to DAVE (and only DAVE)

Still trying to figure this out.

"YOUR words lead to violence" is something that Can't be proven/disproven. (in regards to DAVE and ONLY Dave)

So it allows for it to be a consistent speaking point that is never really challenged.

I am NOT implying that some folks in that community are out here living life without the fear of getting harmed.

just look at history and how and what society has allowed when people are viewed than less than others

hell the shh still happening now.. and what violence doesn’t become a huge deal

unless you’re a very specific type of white dude, you should be well aware of the dangers that come when society as a whole deems certain speech acceptable and thus certain people acceptable targets

it’s not a coincidence that there was a raise in violence towards Asian people with the stupid things being said from trump and others in that world since this whole Covid thing

so only jokes about white people, that's the rule?
or I guess only jokes about white men?

but jokes about fat san antonio women, those are cool tho right, not violence at all right?

Straight White Males are the only group that you can joke about without any mainstream pushback.
( I am not complaining, just stating. )

( I am not complaining, just stating. )

Joking about anyone else that falls lower than your group on the Oppression Power Rankings opens you up for criticism.

If you are NOT a Teflon Comedian, stick to those rules to be SAFE.

It's really that simple.

So to be safe, "Don't punch down."

Which words did DAVE say in ANY of his specials would potentially lead to killings/violence of people from that community.

If you don't know, it's cool to say you don't know man.

who the f is saying anything about rules?

the only real rule, as far as I’m concerned, about saying shhh is if you can get away with it

1) either you’re too scared to say some shh about whoever

or 2) you say the shh and gotta deal with the consequences

white person wanna say the N word, go ahead... but you might have to deal with some shh

you wanna joke about someone’s mother, go ahead.. But you might have to deal with some shh

i would suggest asking a trans person

i will never know how they feel.. that is not something I have experienced

but from a number of perspectives I get how easily shh could happen to me and how easily it could be dismissed

but as a black person, I felt what Dave said about people laughing AT him and not with him with regard to chapelle show.. alot of white people made fools of themselves and showed their ***@(@( with that shh

IN terms of not EXPECTING pushback, yes that is the rule.

Making jokes about Anyone else from any other group should be weighed/considered before clicking send / speaking those words.

But yes, consequences for actions has always been a thing and will always be a thing.

Anyone that thinks they SHOULD be able to say whatever WITHOUT consequence is just #LowIQ.

ah I see so lets run art and culture like a high school cafeteria?
yah no thanks.

im not asking about "consequences"
im talking about identifying what speech is violence and what isn't

seems to me charles fat san antonio women jokes should fall under the category of violence
based on what I've heard in this thread.

I am not asking you to tell me how a trans person feels.

I am asking you which WORDS would lead to violence/killing vs. Trans people.

If anything Shouldn't I be asking the people that perform the violent acts and not Trans people?

But as I said, if you don't know just say you don't know.

I still stand on, "Dave's words incite violence" is a baseless statement that folks know can't be proven/disproven so it's overused/unchallenged.

But we can agree to disagree on that and move on.

here we go again

it seems rational to speak with those being affected

over others trying to justify actions that don’t affect them

the words or violence dont impact my life one bit

i am not any part of the LGBTQ community.. I know some gay people

I don’t consider myself an alley or champion.. I simply believe in leaving people who don’t got shh easy alone

Be safe and assume saying anything about anyone below your group's social status will feel the wrath of your comments from society.

re: Charles

I don't know if anyone has studied the correlation between a woman's weight and likelihood of being in a domestic violence situation.

I am sure when, "FatPhobia" is #1 on the Oppression Power Rankings we wil see some "studies" done.

Until then, Chuck is safe to joke about them.

But that's mostly because he is the fat, black, dumb, southerner that pretty much is allowed to say anything.

Maybe if somebody like Aquaman made those comments about obese black women he would get "cancelled."

I am not asking you to tell me how a trans person feels.

ask a trans person, they are the ones equipped to tell you what they find offensive

im sure there are things about your life that you can easily tell people how problematic shh is that they might not appreciate because it’s not about them

but then again.. look at native Americans.. their land was stolen, they were massacred

then white people turned around and made them the bad guys in movies.. and used them as caricatures for their little sports teams.. Washington just changed that team name and cleveland just just changed that logo.. and you still got 10s of thousands of white people doing the chop and other shh at multiple sports and levels

none of this is new or isolated

So you delete the words I typed only to respond as if I didn't say them.

Again, I am NOT asking you how Trans people FEEL.

But, you got it. We can move on.

I will say, you are good at whatever it is you do.

Again, I am NOT asking you how Trans people FEEL.

again, I am not a trans person

i am not equipped to tell you how they feel

and I think it’s presumptuous to even think I can fully speak to what they find offensive outside of what should be painfully obvious, like slurs

not a second of my life have I had to worry about any of it impacting me
