"Days of Future Past" - New X-Men Movie Release Date (First Class Sequel)

The squandered potential of TDKR is on par with IM3 :{

Man hell no. Tdkr could not be better than 2, no way. It fell short because they tried to do too much with it. Let me be clear that I'm not saying it was a bad movie, just that it wasn't better than 2.

Im3 is dog ****, nuff said

I honestly try to watch TDKR every couple of months just to see if I can look past the gigantic plot holes, but I just can't. As much as I wanted to see the trilogy completed, I still truly believe that they should have stopped, especially after Heath passed away.

And IMO, unless Jennifer Lawrence blows me away in DoFP, Rebecca Romijn will always be the definitive Mystique.

Not to derail the thread but didn't they change the story of tdkr because Heath died? Wasn't he going to be a part of it some way?

There was a blurb back in '08 or '09 where Aaron Eckhart stated that Heath would have been in the third film. Nolan never addressed those comments and Eckhart was probably just speculating, but everyone took it as fact. Nolan didn't commit to doing a third film until after Inception, but it only makes sense that if Heath were still alive, the Joker would have had some involvement in completing the trilogy.

You can tell from the way the second one ended that they weren't done with joker. I feel like the overarching theme of the trilogy was that Bruce didn't want to face his mortality and how far could he be pushed before he broke or snapped like a normal person would. Either Bruce should've snapped and killed bane or bane should've showed batman that their are no happy endings and killed Bruce. TDKR was wack. IM3 hurt my feelings. I've suffered heartache. DoFP has no choice but to deliver

I knew all those lame set photos and 8 second trailers in IG was just a setup for something massive. I absolutely can't wait. Almost went into work late today because I wanted to GIF a bunch of the scenes for my tumblr.

Just some random thoughts:
1. Even though there have been some bad X-Men films, Singer has done two of the best ones, and I really think he has chops to pull this off. I'm still angry at how he treated Cyclops (my favorite X-Men character), but whatever.
2. I actually love the future sentinels. It reminds me a lot of the robots in A.I. (which isn't necessarily a good thing), but given the powers of mutants, it seems that having them as a series of malleable metal plates works. I'm actually more interested to see how the 70's Sentinels fight considering how fragile they look.
3. Love the inclusion of new mutants. Blink, Bishop, Sunspot, etc... Can't wait to see their fight scenes.
4. Iceman finally using the ice ramp.

5. From a cinematic standpoint, I can't wait to see how Singer balances the bright "flowery" 70's look with the dystopian future. Seeing the trailer was just a feast for the senses.

There's so much more I could write, and I know there a lot of negatives I'm looking past, but the kid in me can't wait for this. After being so disappointed by TDKR and MoS, I really hope this doesn't disappoint.
I agree with you.

How can people not be impressed by the scene where all those sentinels were dropping out of the ship like that? The future sentinel does have characteristics of The Destroyer, but cmon. No comic book film will ever be perfect or true to the origin.

There will always be people who will cry and complain on forums all over the net, but when Fox sees how much they make in the first week. We'll see a lot more. Similar to the Resident Evil franchise.

this will fail off the strength of Quick's costume....there is no coming back from that, the second dude gets on screen this *** will turn into a comedy

That's just ridiculous. It will "fail" to anyone who has that kind of absurd point of view.

Yes, he looks very dumb right now.. and will likely look dumb in the final cut. But one dumb looking minor character won't ruin a movie. People are just fixating on that or just saying "haha Fox sucks" so if the movie is a disappointment they can just say "I told you so"

And Singer is a solid director. Maybe people didn't like his direction or how he handled the material, but the first two X-Men are very good comic book movies. I might have preferred if Vaughn came back for this one, but I was happy to hear Singer was returning to the director's chair.

X-3 sucked.. Wolverine Origins was cringeworthy.. The Wolverine had it's moments.. but I'm just tired of the character by now. First Class wasn't perfect, but I really enjoyed it and at least Fassbender and McAvoy were great in it. I'm excited for this one, it's a great storyline, combining the old cast and the new should give us some great scenes and moments, and we all love the sentinels so I'm excited to see that on the big screen.

I'm being optimistic about it.

I hated the concept of X-Men First Class. As a long time fan I hated the fact that they ruined the continuity and had characters in a time that they didn't belong in. I had a low key boycott of it lol.
With that being said, my fandom took over and I eventually went to see the movie and it surpassed every expectation that I had. That gives me hope for DOFP and I really hope it better than what we think it is. I'll be able to look past some of these terrible costumes if they pull off a dope X-Men movie somehow.

We finally get ice surfing.

Sentinels...

.. and somehow gets controlled or destroyed by Magneto?

Shape-shifting Sentinel of the future, really seems like an updated version of Nimrod by the way it can change shape and being much smaller.

Possible but doesn't seem likely. They already got Bishop.

Though the Sunspot and Warpath casting make more sense, those guys will likely be in the XForce film now.

There is still an Apocalypse film before the XForce movie comes out so Cable could appear in that one too, we gon have to wait and see.

True. Would still be a nice lil surprise to X-Men fans tho. They got Sunspot and Warpath but you need to get Cable in there too since he is the leader. Knowing how Fox has flipped it they would probably make Bishop the leader or something for the movie.

I'm excited for this simply because Singer is back. What he did with X1 and X2 was great. Granted DOFP is a complex story to bring to light I'm still optimistic about it being good.

According to the storylines, is this right?

Origins: Wolverine

First Class
Days of Future Past
X-Men
X2
X3
