DC Studios THREAD - GunnVerse Begins - Chapter ONE: Gods & Monsters

Turtoro is Falcone.

But we never see Maroney, right? I don't see a listing for him anywhere. Was he in the past (during Thomas Wayne era) and never onscreen?

It was misdirection imo

The Batman Director Reveals Identity of That Unnamed Arkham Prisoner

“What's interesting is that the reason that Joker's in the movie is there was actually another scene that was earlier. And because the movie is not an origin tale for Batman, but it's his early days, it really is an origin tale for the Rogue's Gallery's characters,” Reeves said. “And for me, I think [it’s] this idea that the Joker is not yet the Joker, but they already have this relationship.

“The scene that was not in the movie, the scene that this is really the companion to, which is actually a really cool scene that will release at some point, it's a scene where Batman is so unnerved because the Riddler is writing to him. And he's like, ‘Well, why is this guy writing to me?’ And he figures he's got to profile this killer,” Reeves said, revealing things then took an almost Silence of the Lambs/Clarice Starling and Hannibal Lecter-like turn. (Or, as DC Comics fans might point out, it’s reminiscent of Batman seeking out Calendar Man’s help in The Long Halloween.)

“He goes to see another killer that he's clearly had an experience with in these first two years. And this killer in this story is not yet the character that we come to know, right?” Reeves said. “So everybody's in their infancy. So in the comics, these characters often declare their alter egos in response to the fact that there's a Batman out there. And so here, we have a Joker who's not yet the Joker.”

Crazy he revealed that

Also, let's give plenty of attention to how good Matt Reeves did and this is a separate shout out for the last two Planet of the apes movies that he directed. They were god damn incredible and had no business being such great movies as they were. He's a really good director and if he stays with this franchise the next sequel might be the best Batman of all time.

I'll circle back with more thoughts once I can get settled, but at least with the comparisons I think the good Batmans have done such different things that they're all their own thing. The Burton Batmans were what they are, the Nolan Batman's and now this one. They're just all so different that you can really separate them. I don't know the comparisons are going to be hard

my favorite part about the movie and i don’t even know if i’m describing it correctly…

was how real batman was.

like

everyone looked at him like a ****in weirdo dressed as a bat walking into a crime scene

which is funny because that’s how we kind of should always feel watching a batman movie but we don’t.

we usually just sit there like everyone else in the scene, perfectly ok with a middle aged 6 foot man dressed as a bat lol

this was the first time where i actually felt batman to be the weirdo he’s usually referred to as with words (“bat freak”) but this time with acting and emotion to back it up.

yah i dont think he was on the film

Naw Matt Reeves already confirmed that’s him via an interview with IGN…Even goes as far as explaining his background as being him having a congenital disease to where he’s constantly smiling…

Only he’s not quite at the level of being THE Joker everybody is familiar with yet…Just like this version of Batman / Bruce Wayne aren’t at the point of being the character everybody is overly familiar with…Still early on for Batman era Gotham as a whole in this universe…

~EDIT~

Nvm…Seen you already saw that…

that was alittle of the bane venom he used at the end correct? when he went crazy on that last riddler. If I remember right early on he gets addicted to it and has to stop. This is well before Bane is even in the picture

Agreed. The Planet of The Apes are a fantastic movie trilogy.
Along with Star Trek.
2 movie franchises I couldn't get into their TV series but love their films.

Yeah, thought that too but figured it wouldn’t get past Easter egg status as I don’t expect to see him anytime soon with so many villains in the rogue gallery they still have to use.

Only thing that bothered me is how everything is black…..from the clothes to the scenery and it rained the entire time. Lol

Some of the points brought up in here so far was on point with my thoughts. I enjoyed the feel of the movie more than anything and how it was shot. The score been on repeat since I left the theater

I thought that was Leto at first  and got excited thinking it MAYBE Joaquin

i was actually talking about maroni not being in the film

Great film.

Gave off the mood of watchmen, sin city and seven.

Battinson is perfect in this role and Zoe absolutely killed it. Colin Farrell, that makeup alone wow.

Can’t wait for the sequel.
