SHAZAM! Will Commence Filming in Toronto in May 2018
The aptly titled WhatsFilming website gives curious minds dates, locations, and other details for movies scheduled to begin filming in certain cities. A quick look at the Toronto section of the site tells us that SHAZAM will have an initial production run from February 5th to May 4th, 2018.
Also notable is the film's working title, Franklin. While some working titles are often unrelated to the context of the film itself, fans have already begun using the wisdom of Solomon to speculate what exactly it could mean. One prevailing theory is that it's a nod to Benjamin Franklin, widely known for his discovery of electricity through an experiment involving lightning. SHAZAM fans should recognize lightning as a staple of the character, both in his costume and in his transformation from Billy Batson to the legendary hero.
There is no word yet on who will star as the Big Red Cheese, but Dwayne Johnson is confirmed to be playing the villain Black Adam in his own solo feature.
SHAZAM is scheduled for release April 5th, 2019. It will be directed by David F. Sandberg from a screenplay by Henry Gayden.
After setting the internet on fire with that revelation, Matthew Vaughn once again touched on the matter in a separate interview with Collider and went on to tease his potential take on Superman, which is something that should go over pretty well with fans of the kid from Smallville. Read his comments below:
“Weirdly if I did do Superman—and I made the mistake of telling someone yesterday I have spoken about it and then wallop (laughs)—I think my main take would be, it’s really boring but make a Superman film. I just don’t feel a proper Superman—I think Donner did it to perfection for that time. Just doing the modern—I wanna do a modern version of the Donner [version]. Go back to the source material… For me Superman is color, feel-good, heroic. He’s a beacon of light in darkness. And that’s what I think Superman should be.”
I am curious if Black Lightnings special is going to be that MK Raidens though, just look awkward as hell.
He's done 4. 3 were awesome and that's cuz he had awesome source material to draw from (Kick-*** and KA2, Kingsman: Secret Service).Where the hell did you get another Returns film from?
Dude has done like 3 comic films and have all been awesome.
Dude is right, if anybody needs color in their films it's Supes. I liked MOS, but we know Vaughn can do it justice.
Old news.So a Watchmen tv series is in pre production. I remember there was discussion about it coming to HBO or something, but I didn't think things were moving this fast
I should've said, assuming he even becomes director of the sequel. It's early but so far the Kingsman sequel is getting mixed reviews...
MystiqueWhat was your issue(s) with First Class?...
I'm in the middle... certain things were fine, others not so much...
Margot Robbie Praises JOKER/HARLEY QUINN Directors And Teases "Messed Up" Love Story
One project which is currently in the works, though, is a Joker/Harley Quinn spinoff which will reportedly take a deep dive into the twisted relationship between the Clown Prince of Crim and his Puddin'.
Focus helmers Glenn Ficarra and John Requa are working on that and will reteam with Robbie for this project. Asked in a recent interview about her excitement to work with them again on the currently very mysterious DC Comics adaptation, the actress said: "They’re great! It’s fun working with a directing duo, and I love them. I’ve obviously done two films with them so I think they’re brilliant."
As for what we should expect from Joker/Harley Quinn, Robbie was understandably coy but did tease some of the elements she's excited to touch on when we get to see these two in action again. "I’m personally a sucker for a love story. In any iteration. I think people enjoy seeing two characters who, in Harley and Joker’s case, would die for one another. It’s kind of romantic in a messed up way."
