DC Studios THREAD - GunnVerse Begins - The Penguin out 9/19 then every Sunday on MAX

Yeah, your first statment is just wrong

Your second statment is implied. How can I judge what hasn't been made yet? So far the sequel formula has failed almost the entire time though. Only 2 have worked, cap and tdk.
Nobody cared bout Bats in that flick mayne. Not of his actions are memorable.

Almost the entire time? Nahhhhhhhh. X2, SM2, Superman 2, Batman Returns, DOFP, The Wolverine (althought I didn't care for it, still better than it's predecessor. You can keep pretending as if TDK is the only sequel better than it's predecessor though. It's not uncommon at all.

SM1 is not better than IM1 or Winter Soldier or GotG or Avengers really.

I can let SM2 slide but I personally wouldn't agree it "*****" on IM1 or WS.
LOL what? Terrible comparison.

No. Just no.

If that was the case it'd be call The Clown Prince not The Dark Knight.

TDK is a great movie and it's cuz the villain is the star of it. He dominates every scene he is in. He made the movie what it is. Bats was far from admirable in it. I mean hell to this day you got ppl saying Joker beat Batman in that movie (cuz **** the boat scene, he killed Rachel and made Harvey go crazy and Bats took the fall for it even though it didn't make sense for everybody to just buy that which really put him in to early retirement).

No it's pretty much spot on. You complain a different character stands out other than the hero so they shouldn't call it batman? :lol

Yeah, stop
:lol No, no, no. This is where your lacking comprehension kicks in hard. I never said that.

I said what makes TDK great is the Joker. That's not a complaint. You said the whole point of TDK is The Joker :lol That's two different statements. Batman is the protagonist of the flick not Joker. He's the villain.

I'm saying if the whole point of the movie was the Joker, which is your claim (if you've forgotten), then the movie would've been titled after him or at least subtitled.

Furthermore, your comparison sucks donkey balls. Iron Man is the protagonist of Iron Man the movie. Of course he is the point of it. Trying to say if you take out Iron Man out of Iron Man is the same thing as taking the Joker out of The Dark Knight is stupid as ****. Weak *** comparison. Which is why you aint say anything about it or try to defend it. It's a shallow comparison that doesn't make sense if you go any further.

Smh they Shoulda cast bradley cooper as Hal Jordan .
Better fit imo.

Not that I dislike Pine.
I like it. Although Pine looks like he's frail. I'm sure he could bulk up
Whether you frail or not won't matter much if all you're doing is your imagination to create objects with a ring and using your will/confidence to sustain them.

Yeah, just stop now nothing you've said proved your point and the way you consistently immediately attempt to insult someone is a testament to your social awkwardness you suffer from in real life. We can all agree on that.

:lol Can't reply so personally attacks me with the use of psychobabble that most likely is more personal to you than the person you're trying to attack. Feel free to tell me to stop again though :{

I'm not proving a point. All I said to start with was your comparison was terrible, which it is. You've yet to make sense of it. I didn't attempt to insult you at all though. Why so defensive? I simply called your comparison what I think it is. Sorry if you felt insulted.

I wasn't arguing. I just said it don't really matter if you frail to be GL. It's more of a disagreement that I expressed through a post.

You can't take a post for what it is?
Cooper too pretty for the role. No ayo, but he'd be distracting.
Really? :lol

Even Cooper with the beard is "too pretty"? I think he could pull it off. Although I don't think he'd really fit as Hal or any other white guy GL I can think of.

Kinamananman Robocop confirmed as Rick Flagg btw
No one cares about him. DC just threw him a bone.

I don't mind Chris Pine as Hal Jordan. He can just channel his Kirk role. I just instantly think Batman and GL arguing.

Cyborg is a young and black character and gonna be coming out in a solo film a few months before GL in 2020.

They also made Deadshot black for Suicide Squad coming out next year.

Cyborg is a whack *** Teen Titan that DC aged up and made a JL member for the New52 cuz they couldn't create a cool enough compelling black superhero in the past 40 years to be apart of the JL and make it stick or didn't care to do so after failing with Black Lightning and whoever else they made attempts with, and never actually buying Milestone outright to use one of their black heroes, say Hardware. Hell they could've killed 2 birds with one stone and made Vixen a member. Cyborg's been the JL token since the start (yes I actually read the JL issues before quitting and yes I know Cyborg's finally getting a solo comic later this year).

I can only hope the Cyborg movie is the best one of the year when it comes out but honestly like I said when DC announced their movie layout for the next few years along with who will be playing Cyborg I'm not even sure the movie actually happens. Also it doesn't matter when the GL solo movie will come out. The JL movie comes out well before that anyway.

As for Deadshot, he's a villain they chose to race swap. Great they'll maximize his presence but that has more to do with Will Smith playing the role than the character being made black.

Dude I replied to said they have Momoa and that's their quota, I simply pointed out that is wasn't true and you went off on it. :lol

Doesn't matter how you feel about the character though, it is still a young black character that is getting his own film which is a big risk, bigger than doing a solo Stewart film. Same with Will Smith, doesn't matter if it is due to his star power or not, DC could have still gone a traditional white guy and be on the safe side but they didn't. It's not like Will Smiths been a big box office guarantee lately, I don't even think Focus is doing that well(?). It's actually also a risk just making a villain oriented film. Then there's the Rock and DC still didn't do it right because dude is light skinned. :lol I know you didn't mention him but it is part of the diversity subject.

I know you probably do not mean to be biased and hate on DC directly and I really don't want to get into a back and forth, been trying to stay neutral and don't need any can of worms opened, but that type of heavy response that just makes it seems like a deep seated hatred for DC. Not just from you but just the thread overall and that is why the current subject of Marvel-lites coming in here just to trash DC came about. It's like everything is shut down how terrible it is right away. It's got to be half empty instead of half full.

I mean I literally just pointed out that they have black characters in this universe and you just got to shut his character down and DCs decision to make him a JL member. :lol

Again I don't want to argue, just wanted to point that out.

Like I said before I'll believe all of that risk taking when the movie actually starts filming and then makes it to it's release date.

And I'm not just talking about this from the movies only but the source material being the comics along with it and the lack of minority (black in this case) heroes in DC of any prominence and the studios unwillingness to make use of them by simply going along with it after failing in certain areas. I've said similar about Marvel btw.

What they're doing is obvious. Race change a villain or two, and sub out the black superheroes they do have with what they're doing with Cyborg suddenly being a JL member. They failed epically with Hal Jordan in the GL movie. Why not have Stewart AND Cyborg in the JL movie?
Same with Will Smith, doesn't matter if it is due to his star power or not, DC could have still gone a traditional white guy and be on the safe side but they didn't. I don't see any risk at all here as far as making Deadshot be played by Will Smith :lol Funny that you see one.

Is Deadshot the star of Suicide Squad or something? It's an ensemble cast of villains :lol If anything it being a villain movie is the risk but hell it has the Joker forced in to it so I'm still not really seeing it.

But anyway, I'm not even arguing from some standpoint that DC isn't taking risks with their movies (that's really a whole other argument where you'd have to consider past **** ups). The ******* fact that a black solo superhero movie is seen as a risk in 2019 or whenever the movie is coming out is the problem. The fact that you think Deadshot being made black in the SS movie is some risk is the problem.

Hell if this was about DC and the studio taking risks we'd be talking about Gal Gadot cast as Wonder Woman first. We'd talk about Goyer still having a hand in these movies. We'd talk about an earlier convo about DC and their super realistic approach to all of their superhero properties and one of the owners of WB thinking that's a good thing. We'd talk about how bad MOS was. Before we even got to the sub topic of DC and their indecision to use more minority superheroes, who they choose to race bend, and casting.
Then there's the Rock and DC still didn't do it right because dude is light skinned. :lol I know you didn't mention him but it is part of the diversity subject.
I got no problems with the Rock choice. I wouldn't say DC didn't do that right although I don't know what they're planning with Black Adam. Only worries is if they're wasting the Rock as a villain too. I would never say DC didn't do it right cuz the Rock is light skinned or they chose an actor that's not dark. The Rock only being half black (or a quarter w/e he may be) doesn't negate his blackness.

Of course again we're talking about characters that had their races changed for the movies. To me while it'll get a nod in acceptance it'll still have an asterisk next to it (at least for ppl who know) that DC is slacking comics wise in that area and it's not quantity it's quality. Yeah I might belabor things by mentioning the past which DC can not change but going off some of the racist **** they've almost done and did do if I want to vent/rant on that I will. You can ignore it.

I know you probably do not mean to be biased and hate on DC directly
Nah, I'm specifically calling out DC from the comics to movies when it comes to portraying minorities. Thing is I do the same thing with Marvel movies and I did with their comics when I wasn't satisfied there either.

So if I'm bias for calling out bull **** like that then I'm bias.
but that type of heavy response that just makes it seems like a deep seated hatred for DC. This has nothing to do with DC vs. Marvel to me.

That last post is pretty consistent with all of my other posts when it comes to this topic and I will continue the next time I feel like it or if it's brought up about another character or franchise or w/e. If you don't want to part take in that discussion that's okay but if there was any confusion before I can make it clear now this has nothing to do with hatred for DC or even my feelings that Marvel as a comic publisher and movie studio is vastly superior. I don't need to pit one against the other when I'm enjoying one a whole lot more than the other currently in those two realms. That doesn't mean DC can't do better when it comes to the topic of portraying minorities. If I just wanted to say DC sucks I wouldn't hide it behind they don't have enough minority representation therefore they suck. I'd say all of Marvel's minority characters are better than DC's therefore they suck.
I mean I literally just pointed out that they have black characters in this universe and you just got to shut his character down and DCs decision to make him a JL member. :lol
Cuz it's bull **** going off their history. They had tons of chances prior to this recent decision that was made in like 2011 or whenever the New 52 started. That they're doing it now isn't gonna get a pat on the back from me.

I'm not saying they don't have black characters in this universe. I simply had some background to add to what you were bringing up. It's not simply oh they have Deadshot who they just made black for the movies and Cyborg is getting a solo movie before GL (no surprise given how badly they bombed the first time around). It's why the **** did they have to do that in the first place with Deadshot?

Honestly, only studio I can think of that gets a slide in this category more than others is SONY. Since they only own Spider-Man and his world. Yet I'm still all for a Miles Morales Spidey over Peter at this point. Didn't mind Foxx as Electro even though it ended up whack. Cuz there's one black (anti)hero I can think of in Spidey's world while the others are villains.
Again I don't want to argue, just wanted to point that out.
Hope I made things abundantly clear for you.
