Moore
After a half-season stint with the Boston Celtics, Mikki Moore is going back to the West Coast.
Moore's agent, Mark Bartelstein, told ESPN.com on Monday that the free-agent center agreed to a one-year contract with the Golden State Warriors over the weekend.
Moore's deal is for the $1.3 million, the veteran minimum.
He signed with the Celtics in March after negotiating a buyout with the Sacramento Kings after the trading deadline but struggled to make an impact with the Celtics, averaging only 1.5 points and 1.5 rebounds in 6.6 minutes in the playoffs.
bye bye Wright

Don't let the hair fool you, Moore is way better than Davidson. I don't have any problems with the signing. It's the veteran minimum, and he's a serviceable big off the bench.Originally Posted by Andrew630

...but this isn't a precusor to a Wright deal. They are saying he's been going to summer school at Chapel Hill and has been practicing/working out there. And that he still fits in the game-plan for the Warriors because he is the biggest post-presence we have.
Yup. Moore costs more, but he's more useful. He can actually provide useful minutes, not just a big body for practice. I think he's theremore for Turiaf/Biedrins (in case one gets injured like last year and the Warriors have nobody else) than he is to replace Wright.Originally Posted by FRANCHISE 55
NBA source: Chilly market for Jackson, especially with new emphasis on conduct
Three fast reasons why the initial reaction around the league to Stephen Jackson's trade request is NO WAY HE'S COMING HERE…
1) NBA Commissioner David Stern, according to one NBA source, has quietly emphasized to every team this summer that this is not the time to excuse players' off-the-court misbehavior and followed that up with real action.
There's a new CBA set to be negotiated soon-the current one will expire in 2011. There's this recession just beginning to wipe away large amounts of season-ticket and advertising money. Stern wants a clean house.
Now Jackson has been a model citizen off the court during his Warriors stay. But any team thinking of acquiring him would have to look at his previous issues, including multiple suspensions, and realize that any further SJax problem will bring the player and franchise into Stern's crosshairs.
2) The NBA strongly believes that it must and will knock back the salary levels in a new CBA, given the state of the economy and the struggles of a large handful of its franchises.
Jackson's three-year extension, due to begin next season, already is an albatross because of his age and potential liabilities.
But in a new economic climate, with a lower percentage guaranteed to the players and possibly a cratering salary-cap number, any deal for a 31-year-old that goes to $8.45M next year, $9.26M the year after that and finishes at $10.92M in 2012-'13 (TWO YEARS after the new CBA rules) is a looming disaster.
3) The only big contracts teams might consider acquiring are for young, ticket-selling players, such as
Monta Ellis. (Dallas or Memphis, anybody?)
Jackson is not young and not a ticket-seller. And no, there will be no re-negotiation. That's another sport you're thinking of, not the NBA.
I'm just wondering why we picked up Moore when we still have to try to develop Randolph and Wright. We still need to give Turiaf and Biedrinsminutes too.Originally Posted by gusyouout
