It's really unfair. It's my team. It's my quarterback.

And if you guys do that, man it's unfair.

Can you guys please explain to me how this is "unfair?"

-He doesnt even know half of our playbook after two preseasons, one full season and one offseason.
-He apparently has a horrible work ethic.
-He has had average results against other team's third string teams (and average is being generous)
-When he does play, we run the same play over and over again, so Nate doesnt mess up the play.
-The coaches have to spend a ton of extra time with Nate so he can have basic understanding of the vanilla plays that he runs.
-Coaches dont think he has NFL QB smarts (i.e. falling down instead of getting the first down)

Honestly, EVERYONE loves the third string QB. There is NOTHING "unfair" about us cutting him. When ZERO other NFL teams show interest in him, he clears waivers, and is right back on our practice squad, will you guys STILL think he warrants a spot on our team, let alone think he is our future?

49ers coach Mike Singletary told KNBR 1050 in San Francisco that the team hopes to add QB Nate Davis to their practice squad.
The Niners must wait until Wednesday to see if he clears waivers. Singletary has called out Davis publicly for his lack of work ethic, bu

how long does it take for the 1st pick in the draft to become a legitimate starting qb?

Who do y'all want to start if not Smith? Carr? I know you guys werent talking about N Davis because hes been mediocre this preseason against 1st/2nd string defenses. He shows flashes of talent, but hes simply not ready, stop living off youtube highlights from last preseason and the 65yd pass from this season. Smith if thee best option right now. This is Smiths final straw, he has the weapons, is under the same playbook/OC, and is injury free. Lets see what he could do this season because he hasnt had any of those in the past.

How can you possibly think that this is the same thing?

So now that Nate Davis has cleared waivers and is back on our practice squad, do you guys STILL feel like the 49ers werent justified in releasing him? Do you still feel that he is gonna be great? Do you still feel like he is our future?

I personally think it is EXTREMELY telling that there isnt a SINGLE other NFL team that would want him. Just sayin.

To answer your questions Yes,Yes and Hell Yes

I still think nate can start for the 9ers if he gets his act together, like i said all along

the 9er front office took a chance w/ releasing him but I think that was mainly because sing knows carr is trash. I think Troy will windup moving up the depth chart during the season.

I personally feel that the 49ers shouldn't have released Nate Davis but at least he is on our practice squad, so at least there is a chance that he can play for us again.  Say what you want to but at the end of the day Davis has more talent than Smith, and talent can't be taught, you either have it or you don't at this point in your life.  I don't think Davis will be great, and I don't think anyone on here spoke of him being great.  I just happen to feel that Davis is a better option at QB than Smith.  I would like to see Davis with the first team to see what he can do with them but that time has passed, it's on to the regular season and with that being said let's hope that Alex Smith is successful...................if not you dudes will be hearing from me, especially NikeTalker23

yea, and it wasnt even a cry for Davis, it was a cry for Alex Smith.

I don't know where this supposed talk of Nate Davis being "great" came from.

Point blank there will be people who support Alex Smith and this is his last year to prove he's a starting QB in this league.

That won't make me stop cheering for Nasty Nate though, I'll always root for the underdog.

For the record, I am not AGAINST Nate. I just think that talent can only get you so far in this league. Your QB needs to be smart. The fact that we continually dumb down our offense for Nate and run the same plays over and over again when he is in there, just shows how far away he is from being an NFL QB. Do you guys not notice that we do this? Do you guys understand how unsuccessful an offensive unit would be if you run the same 10 plays repeatedly over the course of a game?

I know Alex Smith is not a great QB. I understand Nate probably has more natural talent than Alex. But it takes a whole hell of a lot more to succeed at QB than just a strong arm. At this point, there is no way in hell a team could rely on someone like Davis to run our team, but somehow, you guys dont see this. Baffles me.

Alex is our QB, he is light years better for our team than Nate, and lets hope he does well. I think he will be fine.

Not necessarily here, but on the 49ers boards its

how much people ride Nate.  He's a great story and has talent but at the end of the day he's the 3rd string QB.
