Destiny Thread (Bungie) - 9/9/14

Sooo what was the deal with those infections everybody had the week before RoI dropped?

Haven't heard a peep about them since

It was part of the Outbreak Prime quest I believe. The data helped people figure out the numbers for the quest

The Infection was an Alternate Reality Game (ARG) that Bungie created to introduce players to the effects of SIVA in the game lore. SIVA starts out positively affecting the host it's infected (think the Empowerment raid mechanic), this is the lore-purpose behind giving players the XP boost in-game. Only later does SIVA become dangerous to the host.

There was a second ARG simulation Bungie set up to give players the tools to unlock the 4th Monitor and find the Outbreak Prime Quest Chest.

1st ARG: https://owlsector.bungie.net/#en

2nd ARG: https://www.bungie.net/en/net/sim

See now why couldn't this be in the game man :smh: i never knew that

I really don't think there is a place to put these kinds of things in the game however.

For example, the second ARG required players to figure out their player-specific numeric code, then put them into a decoder to find a position within a combination generator.

Again, none of this is possible in-game, so while it's tough to reach everybody with these elaborate ARGs, I think Bungie is reaching out to the Hardcore players knowing that the information will trickle down (as long as players care enough to want to obtain the rewards).

What's the preferred loadout for the raid? Raze-Lighter, Sleeper Stimulant, Ghally? I saw something over at Reddit saying that Dark Drinker actually does the most DPS :nerd:

Raid pulse and whatever else you want. We have started to running exclusively with the OP for every encounter and don't even use a sniper or heavy for Aksis part 2 or the first boss. I mean the raid scout is a monster too if you don't have the pulse. Now if you haven't completed the raid yet then I suggest a high impact scout or hand cannon with max range so you can 1-2 shot things easily. A sniper and a shotty is useful for certain encounters so have both. Can't go wrong with the Gjally honestly but sleeper is a better damage weapon IF you can land consistent headshots. We don't use swords, we just use a heavy rocket to take out the captains on aksis. Well 1-2 people use swords for the zamboni.
