First thing you need to do is ignore the notion that you need to wear legendary gear in every slot. When you do quests and strikes and are ready to decrypt a ton of engrams then decrypt them one by one and equip them if they are a higher light level than what you are wearing in that slot. Once you start doing this getting to 280 and 290 won't be hard. Once you have weapons and a ghost leveling an alt to high light level is a joke.

I think yall did pretty good considering there were 2 guys who never been in the raid before. Probably won't get back into the raid until this weekend unless someone gets an Oryx checkpoint.
Got a cloak for my hunter that put him at 298 and my warlock is already 300.
