For you suit guys, I've been reading through different forums and everywhere people mention full canvas. What exactly does that mean, and what are the benefits to having a suit that's full canvas?

It lasts longer through the numerous trips to the dry cleaners' and the roll looks more 3D-ish for a lack of better word. Note that there are 3 types: fully canvassed, half canvassed, and fused. The cheap stuff is usually fused.

In addition full canvas drapes better and forms to your body a lot better than half canvassed and fused. A good middle ground is half canvassed as the price isn't super high but not cheap either (think Indochino and Suit Supply). Full Canvas usually also involves a layer of horsehair as well.

Nah, I know Sambas, Gazelles, etc. They may have been cheap brand recreations of GATs but I played soccer growing up and I remember being young and I'm gonna sound like a **** but I remember playing indoor soccer tournaments and the teams from less wealthy areas wearing shoes just like them or Sambas but with a 4th stripe. They were the kinds that were like leftovers at sidewalk sales and ****. I don't know, it stuck with me...keep in mind I got my 1st pair of Jordans in 3rd grade and had 1-2 pairs every year after until I switched to other basketball shoes in about 8th grade. I always paid attention to shoes and even cleats for soccer or lacrosse, I had to have the best (aside from the story I shared about the cheap Worth cleats my dad bought me because I lost my expensive Nike cleats after an away game). But anyway...

That really would not surprise me, the shoes were based on army trainers so they likely sat at an army surplus store in the 70's & 80's and back then, people probably just played any sport in any shoes they can buy/afford. I wouldn't be surprised if there are some brands that did a similar style back then too and ispired by those GATs. Up to this day, the German Army Trainers being sold at $30 or so are still the same one made back then and the soles are identical to the Sambas that the mold is likely from the same factory.

My order from uniqlo should be here today....really hoping everything fits well.

I hate my sizing i am forever between a M and a Large. I am 6 foot about 185lbs...I am a 33 waist...the shorts i ordered from uniqlo are Mediums...sizing chart says fits 30-33....have a feeling i will have to send them back

Did you just order shorts in a Medium? If there were any shirts, I'm curious whether/how well a Medium fits you.

Also, if anyone's interested in this Uniqlo x Michael Bastian in a Small...

JKing can you post some fit pics of the uniqlo stuff? I'm roughly similar measurements as you and I'm not in NYC so ill have to order stuff from there too...curious how it fits w/ large vs medium

I got a cotton/linen short sleeve madras and two pairs of shorts for a total of $47

I will post pics when i get off work later. The shirt fits great actually....except for the sleeves...they really squeeze my biceps....The Aztec-ish shorts are tight on my thighs but fit in the waste fine. And the other shorts are terry-cloth and i fit almost perfectly. I am going to keep everything which is good. Everything was a Medium. I actually like the fit of these better then i do J.Crew slim fit stuff. My J.crew slim fit button downs are way tighter in the neck then uniqlo. I will def be ordering from them again at some point

now if i can only muster up the courage to cop the zanerobe sure shots since this H&M hunt is a loss
