When I get my pants hemmed, I have them hem about 2 inches of pant above the bottom of the pant (makes the cuffs sturdier, stay set). So one cuff will work for low tops and 2 cuffs for high tops. Some of my pants though I just leave unfinished so you can have sloppy/crumpled looking rolls.
The first pair is a regular hem with more length and the second pair is a set cuff, when I definitely want to roll the pants for a more set cuff. Either way you should be good.

Sprezzatura - adding/doing something quirky or unusual to your fit. Italians are notorious for that. You can only pull sprezz off, if you are already known as a fashion icon. Outside of that, it will just look silly.

I'm not a formal wear historian, but I think that "look" was functional before it was ever fashion. If I'm wearing a suit & tie and I'm eating or chilling outside on windy days, I tuck the tie in. Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar, or maybe I'm just uninformed.

You have a point ... but historically the tie bar has been the accessory to keep your tie in check - not sticking it inside your shirt.

Agree with the functionality idea. I don't think it is the reason in the picture but when I'm eating something dangerous like red tomato sauce while wearing a tie I will tuck it into my shirt like that to protect from spattering or dipping the tie in the food. In that picture I think hes just trying to do something extra like the half tuck and I think it looks kinds stupid.

I don't know, I just think fashion has people's heads f'ed up where up becomes down. I've never understood sprezzatura. To me, it's just ordinary man swag. Like rocking NB 991s with a suit if your a commuter, or a professor looking sloppy after a 2 hour lecture and he ends up with his shirt half tucked. If it's conscious, it's pathetic.

personal preference imo. i used to do it a lot, its very nice if you can pull it off. I think it just depends on your outfit. btw, i've been lurking in here for quite some time and would like to say that there is a lot of inspiration and very stylish people in here. Great thread. Did this "strategic tuck" come out in a fashion mag (GQ/Esquire)?, one of my boys tucked in his shirts like this all weekend in Vegas when we hit up the bars and clubs at night.
We hit him the: "What's up with the strategic/ half assed tuck?", however we were to busy clowning on another friend who looked like a b-grade Ronnie (Jersey Shore) who wore Affliction gear all weekend
That is a clean outfit BTW, I just think the tuck is tacky, like you're trying hard to have a "sloppy/messy" look. It's tuck all the way or untuck, IMHO. My boy wore solid outfits all weekend, the half tuck made them

Eh, I'll keep the suggestion simple. Wear a suit no matter what it is. Remember, you only have one chance to make a first good impression. In my old job, this one guy was applying for a maintenance job and wore a suit to the interview. My employer even told him, "you know you are just interviewing for a maintenance job, right?" and he simply said, "Yes!" In the end, he got the job so he obviously made a great impression to my former employer so I say go for it even if it is just for a sales position at GAP.

Yup. throw a suit on. If you don't want to wear a suit, maybe you should wear a v-neck sweater with a tie and some nice pants.
