Dressing better

Please correct me if im wrong but wats with messenger bags??? IMO they seem like man purses (murse)...why not go with a briefcase?

Well for starters you can't throw a briefcase accross your chest?....plus messenger bags are bigger, I drive everywhere so I find no point in me having one...but there are some really nice ones.

i don't see anything wrong with messenger bags.  they're a good alternative to bookbags for us students.
satchels are the ones that look like purses.  word to allan.

Messengers are great if you are a young professional adult. Briefcases seems too older, too business. Backpacks make you look like you are in school.

It will be mainly used traveling to and from work in NYC, carrying laptop, book/magazine and maybe lunch. My office is currently business casual (people use backpacks etc) but I would not want to feel worried about bringing it to a business meeting (finance). I've looked at waxwear a lot as I think it would hold up best to a little beating which I would expect with me, is that correct? Its a gift but would like to keep it under about $400, I also didn't like any of the ones on J Crews website or other Filsons (too rugged looking). Here are some I've looked at, which would you pick? or any other suggestions?
I have a Tumi messenger bag for my laptop and I've been very happy with it...

Women carry purses, men carry messenger bags/briefcases. With the amount of items one may carry, bags are more common than they will ever be. I will say this though, when you see a man carry his bag into a nightclub then it becomes a purse. lol

My jack spade backpack has gone through hell for the last 3 years, looks as ashy and wonderful as the day i bought it... whiskey bottles have broken in it, ive had leftovers open up in it...The inside holds up exceptionally well, and holds almost no stains or smells. A great purchase IMO

you can also pick up a pair of these, these are extremely comfy

they have two, regular fit and the slimmer ones.....but even the slimmer ones fit baggier than the ones JCREW carries, although with what you buy one pair from JCREW you can almost buy all three colors the GAP offers...lol

I personally prefer JP's, they look better and are more comfortable.

I am leaning more towards JP's anyways. Converse seem to be on another level that doesn't really go with what I'm going for. If that makes sense.

Kstezzy - airmax are always a must with certain outfits i say. That scarf will need an RIP after these holidays.

ksteezy,
appreciate someone doing it without all the pretense of spending tons of money. I'm sure you've probably spent plenty of cash, but at least you are helping folks with things they can actually go out and afford! Well played sir!
And those safari am1 are pretty great...i dont think i could pull off a pant with that leg opening, but that's because im freakin short as heck...Gotta keep my cuts as narrow as possible!

yet another question for ksteezy
how tall are you? nh but your pants seem to fit you pretty well

i have a pretty similar bodybuild to you but im 5'7".  also, can i get info on that denim jacket you posted a few pages back? thanks

Thank you guys, honestly I make big purchases selectively, love designer stuff, but I think twice before pulling the trigger....really considering a Moncler purchase...but I'm still giving it thought....I really don't think is cool to be dipped from heady toe in designer gear...I find it tacky to be honest...lol

Damn - I'm short too bro!...I wish I was at least 5'10...at 5'8 a size 30 length in most pants still longer than I would like...not to mention certain brands like diesel I think don't even go in that length :-( however after one cough I can bare a 30 length....anything longer and I'm in trouble.

Superfly - like I just told Damn I stand at just about 5'8 and most of the pants I've worn in these pics have the fit of levi's 511...I use either 32x30 or 33x30... I've lost about 25 lbs in the past year so I definately fit my pants much better, trying to get down to a 30x30....that's ideal for my height I think...time to hit those obliques and crunches at the Gym!...the denim jacket is from American Eagle, got it last year, wore it alotttt since last year, so it's earn a bit of a worn out look....it definately faded since I first got it.

Jack Purcells are made by Converse.

For the person that asked about slim fitting trousers and pants a couple pages back, try Topman. They have a store in Soho and an online site that you can order from.
