ELECTION DAY 2008:........... Barack Obama, the next President of the United States of America

I woke up today and I turned on the tv to make sure I wasn't dreaming at 4 am this morning when I went to sleep..


And now I remember this:

And so even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream.

I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all menare created equal."

I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia, the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at thetable of brotherhood.

I have a dream that one day even the state of Mississippi, a state sweltering with the heat of injustice, sweltering with the heat of oppression, will betransformed into an oasis of freedom and justice.

I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of theircharacter.

I have a dream today!

I have a dream that one day, down in Alabama, with its vicious racists, with its governor having his lips dripping with the words of "interposition"and "nullification" -- one day right there in Alabama little black boys and black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and whitegirls as sisters and brothers.

I have a dream today!




The day has come to start turning the pages and saying that those who preach hate and those who live based on hate have no place in this country.

I am so excited that Obama is president people all across the world celebrated Obama and proves that this country lives by its word and the American Dream isobtainable by anyone regardless of race.


I look at the tv eyes filled with tears and say I will never be inspired like this again..

Congrats to all the Obama supporters!! I didn't personally think he was the most deserving of the two, but in hindsight he is EXACTLY what this countryneeded. I think he is going to be a much needed breath of fresh air for the U.S.A. Hopefully, he can bring even a little change in Washington.
 
Yall need to quit with the assassination garbage. Yes, it should be a concern. But let's just focus on the positives for now.

I couldn't believe that it was announced a little after 11pm. They gave him Virginia

and then seconds later it was over. I was thinking last night how proud blacksmust have felt at that moment. I think this will go a long way in helping troubled black youths. Hopefully they don't ever forget this day.

But once he steps into office, all the BS is over. Time to get to work and improve the state of the country. I think he can do it.

How can you put the whole mess this U.S. is currently in on the Republican party? Hopefully these next four years will show you that no matter who is inthere, this government will always be corrupt and dirty.

I originally voted for Ron Paul but after he was out I started volunteering for the Obama campaign. Honestly I hope people realize that we're in a hugehole and it's going to take a while time for us to get out of it. I think that Obama being president is not only good for our country but ,as some of ussaw last night, good for our standing in the world. My prediction is the stock has a big day especially with foreign investment.
 
Nice to see a black dude become president....though it would be better if he was 100% black instead of 50%.

Too bad he's a socialist. It makes me sick to know he is going to take my money and give it to someone else.

I can't believe that in these horrible times when people are losing their jobs all over the city this bastard is going to raise our taxes. Pathetic.
 
I think it's a great day when a man of african american decent can win the highest office in the land...especially considering that just a generation agoslavery was basically alive and well with all the forced segragation...

It say's a great deal for the state our country now, and this alone will enhance our image across the world a ton already...The United States will onceagain be viewd as a land of dreams and a land of hope for people around the world who have no hope at all...

Yesterday my 67 year old mother and myself wen't and waited for 3 hours to place our votes...My mother was born and raised in (White - Republican) Alabamaand remembers clearly going to school and being seperated from any childredn of "Color" simply because they were not the right color...She told meshe once saw a police officer arrest a teenage black man for not stepping off the sidewalk into the gutter as the officer walked passed him on the street...

She told me yesterday while waiting in line that she rememberd hearing George Wallace make the statement "segregation now, segregation tomorrow,segregation forever"...My mother is by no means a racist but she has always been a fan of the Republican Party for as long as I can remember...Though shehas never voted before this election...She is a very private person and will not share her feelings with you until she is ready to do so...and for the lastmonth all she has been telling me is how much she cannot wait to go and Vote...So when we left to go to the polls I assumed that she would be voting for McCainsimply because of his party affiliation so the whole way there I gave her my whole, why the country needs Obama deal, and she simply told me to save my breaththat she had already made up her mind...

when it came time for her to step into the voting booth she did. When she exited the booth she walked over to me and and the young (Black) lady behind me andsaid "in the darkest times there will always be a light, given by god, to guide the way..." I just kind of looked at her and then she said"Obama is the light that god has given me and this country and he will guide us through these dark times"...She then proudly proclaimed "I justvoted for the next President of the United States Mr. Obama" and gave the young lady that was behind me a big hug and a kiss on the cheek...

That say's it all right there people...This country is not about what you look like or your political party of choice or being different...It's aboutcelebrating being different...It's about celebrating our heritage and values, no matter what they may be, and still being considered a patriotic Americansimply because of our love for this great country...

Such a happy day and such an historic night just a few hours ago. Let it be clear, THAT THE DAYS OF THE FRAUD ARE NO MORE. From the New England Patriots,to Kobe Bryant fans, to John McCain, to Sarah Palin, to Joe the Plumber, to that chick that carved the "B" on her cheeks a few weeks ago. Any andall FRAUDS are getting exposed this year!!

There were many naysayers when Obama kicked off his campaign, but I was one of the faithful that knew that he could pull it off. There weren't that manypeople at first that were supportive of Obama, be it for whatever reason, but as the weeks and months went by you could since a movement was taking place. Their was a vision that was sweeping across America that couldn't go unheard. We came together to try and put America back on track and that is where wefinds ourselves at today, with a new vision and plan tha includes any and everybody. I have used the same signature below for well over a year, it's astatement to those that didn't believe and maybe still don't believe that Obama was going to win the presidency and takeover the White House, and thatis exactly what he did. Sig Check!!
 
I was watching CBS this morning and they took a poll from African American parents and White asking if they believed that their child would become president
African American: 56%
White 44%
Something like that, its amazing that with him elected people start believing that the impossible is now soooo possible

I will tell you this...

Its nice to see a young family in the white house. The thought of the young family with a new puppy running around the white house was touching.
