F1 Official Thread - Grand Prix of Britain

Speaking of McLaren, they released a new set for the year so I picked up the papaya ones. Didn't feel like getting the other 3 since I got them last year. Mainly only different liveries

That's pretty cool. I love that there's so much more merch (for all the teams) nowadays.
I've been collecting diecasts since the mid 90's and the range & variety was so limited back then.

Would be sad to see him go but honestly hasn't been generating the results required to keep the seat

Yeah, true... they call it The Piranha Club for a reason. Just hasn't quite delivered for STR... though you could say that for few other drivers as well, of course.

My biggest issue here is how STR have handled it. It's pretty much an open secret now, with the guard of honor at the paddock... and all the media treating it like it's fact. Even Daniel's interviews sound pretty resigned that it's over. The least the team could have done was announce it so that he can get a proper sendoff. He deserves that much.

Also was coming to say that race was pretty lackluster. All the ifs and maybes going around about could it be Daniel’s last race has to suck for him. He hasn’t been able to really get in any consistent groove since he returned last year.

More confirmation that Norris is in fact a knuckle dragging simpleton:

How is it that he can never see past his own nose?

Supposedly Lawson had a clause in his contract where RB had to find him a seat for the 2025 season or he could walk. Supposedly there was a deadline for it as well but guess we will never know the exact details. Sad to see Danny Ric gone. Would've been nice to at least let Daniel finish the season.

If Lawson can’t beat Tsunoda Hadjar should get the seat.

Keep that thang movin 🤣

Not sure if anyone saw these on the Puma site.

They seem to have gotten a license from the Instituto and are selling a few pieces of merchandise. Can't post the link as it just goes to the search function.

Wish the jacket was a little more unique (like used his helmet colors more or even had an embroidered helmet logo on the back). But the Suedes are really cool and I have a pair coming soon. Can't wait to see them. 👍

Not my sneaker style, but I like that they still do merch collabs. Hope there are more in the pipeline.

Daniel deserved a better send off.
Obvs would have loved to have seen him finish the season, but I get that teams need to plan for their future and give Lawson this "audition" for Checo's RBR seat. But Lawson knew 2 weeks ago that he was getting the seat, yet STR couldn't do the decent thing and let Danny Ric have a proper send off. Was delaying the announcement by 3-4 days really necessary? 😕😕

Good chat. I believe in Vowles.

GA tickets aside, anybody have an idea how much it’d cost to attend the race in Austin? I’m mainly just talking about the event, not the logistics.

How much to expect for parking, food, misc costs etc etc.?

Thinking about heading down. I need to give my financial assistant and scheduler (both my wife) an estimate.

Biggest advice is definitely don't drive if you don't have to. Hop on one of the shuttles so you're not stressing the gridlock traffic on the way out each day. Looks like shuttles are $79 - $139 this year depending on the pick up location, for the full 3 day weekend.

Food varies, but it's a sporting event in the US, so you already know it's not looking like Costco hot dog prices  If you're avoiding alcoholic drinks, stick to one meal and some kind of snack/treat while you're at the track, you can probably swing it for $40 - $50 per person per day. Breakfast & dinner at home/hotel/somewhere in town is always the move

I'd avoid buying merch at the race, it's overpriced shirts/hats/etc, unless there's something you really need. You can take a look at the online shop and see what prices were like, and scoop some deals

Yes, THIS! I've seen so many comments and pics online on how much more expensive merch is at the track... the x2 markup is ridiculous.

At the Singapore race the price for a cup of beer was the most extreme i've ever seen at an event, $17 for a cup works out to US$13.

Thank you, that’s exactly what I was looking for!
