FOOD THREAD VOL. GRUB LIFE

This really isn't that big of a thing.

Take for instance when nawghtyhare nawghtyhare made oxtails. He made it and stewed his way to his liking with his ingredients. Think he added mushrooms to it and that's not a common ingredient. He wasn't trying to recreate the dish from any of the cultures in the Caribbean.

However, if he ordered from a Caribbean spot and said he wanted this, this, and that. They'd just hang up on him :lol

We not talking about cultural foods that have become universal. If I tell you I had a burger, there's dozens of variations to that. However, there becomes a point when it stops being a burger.

Same way with signature dishes from different cultutres.

It's the same way when ppl post melts but call them grilled cheese but they're not cuz they done added bacon, avocado, pulled pork, and mayo in to it.

Your preference is irrelevant in that matter. You not making/eating the intended dish. Don't pretend it is.

And don't expect you can order something anyway you want it.

For the sake of helping YOUR argument, you can classify it however you want.

But again, I love how you conveniently ignored the point of innovation coming from people EXPERIMENTING with "cultural" foods.

If we lived by your illogical (when logic shouldn't even be used in FOOD convos), rules, where the hell would we be in terms of innovation/creativity?

So your, "Eat it the natural way or don't eat it" holds ZERO weight and I seriously doubt ANY of us follow that rule. Including you.
Ok, how far has experimenting with Jerk chicken gone? Has it stayed true to it's roots? You should change it because it's too spicy, perhaps?

If someone wants to use a Jalapeno ,instead of a Scotch Bonnet, when making a Jerk Paste, that is well within their right. No issue. As long as the food tastes good them and whoever is eating it, that is ALL that matters.

How would you feel if a person omitted peppers from a jerk marinade totally? and still called it jerk chicken.

it’s a KIND of sandwich that DOESNT NEED cheese so yes it’s wild

you put cheese on a peanut butter and jelly too?
Personally nah but you add a burger, choose a cheese in the vein of gruyere or blue, use bacon jam instead of jelly, some arugula, light on the pb and we got something mean that I could probably charge 30 bucks for.

some pizza you have to fold to eat...it's practical
im not putting creases in my **** though

also, i tried one of those pbj burgers. i usually like everything but it didn't do anything for me.
it might have been a bad iteration though. also, it was in denver which isn't exactly known for their food

If I heard them call it Jerk Chicken, I would COMMENT on it but I honestly wouldn't CARE .

I wouldn't tell them they SHOULDN'T eat it since it isn't 100% authentic.

I mean we all don't really care, we can't control another person's actions.
But the point remains, let's not change how the dish was intended to be based on our "preferences".

fooled me

i thought it was under the sandwich umbrella

I am ONLY having this conversation because you uttered the words

"Eat it AS or don't eat it AT ALL."

That is how this started.
