I've had good ones

A sandwich that dependent on good bacon and fresh tomato is going to be mediocre a lot of the time

Good seasonal sandwich at best, when the ingredients are right
Good bacon can be had anywhere. hard to mess up bacon. And a fresh globe tomato or beefsteak can be found anytime of the year in supermarkets or some bodegas the city. It’s not as seasonal as you may think. the lettuce doesn’t have to be romaine. It can be ice berg, spinach, arugula, kale…

Where are tomatoes coming from in the winter? Greenhouses?

Tomatoes have short seasons in which they’re fresh, ripe, and local. That’s the only time of year to eat them

Those pink tomatoes most grocery stores sell and most restaurants use by way of major food service distributors aren't good

I agree bacon should be easy

I don’t know where the tomatoes are coming from but if I remember in January, February I’ll snap a pic at the supermarket of the different off-season varieties they have

Greenhouses. They don't compare to outdoor, garden ripe, tomatoes

Personal preferences aside, that's my only gripe with BLTs. The average tomato can't carry a sandwich

Looks like the standard stale pink tomatoes they sell everywhere

Next late summer find someone that grows their own, pick one off the vine when it's fully ripe or almost ripe

It'll look and taste nothing like that
It was still good and the slightly thin cut gave it a little snap. Matter fact everything had a crunch to it today. should have put the 57 cents change he gave me back in the tip drawer
