Has anyone here tried slow cooking ribs, brisket or tri tip via a crock pot?

anyone have success doing so? or should I not even bother?

My uncle finishes his ribs in a crock pot. Get fall off the bone tender and are excellenr
 
So is the consensus for the Halal Guys in Costa Mesa that it's not worth the trip?

Only had it once from the original cart 6 years ago, and I'm fiending for it now that it's a 1.5 hour drive away.
