FOOD THREAD VOL. GRUB LIFE

I saw this nice table top grill at marshalls. It's easy to clean and perfect for my small balcony. Might scoop it.

Question for the food thread goers. Are there dishes that you refuse to order in a restaurant and are kinda reserved for just home? Meatloaf is one for me. Beef stew, chicken noodle soup and pork chops are others. Only home cooked.

I won't order something that is too easy to make at home and is consistent. Spam and Eggs at Hawaiian BBQ is the first that comes to mind.

I pretty much never order chicken anything at a nice restaurant unless it's an Italian spot (chicken parm) or a soul food spot where I'm literally only going there for fried chicken.

I rarely go out for Filipino food because my family cooks it pretty often. If I do get Filipino food I'll order a dish that I typically don't ever have at home.

Also, I will probably never order lobster on it's own. I feel like it's just just significantly cheaper to eat at home and it's pretty simple to cook.

I refuse to order pasta w/ red sauce. It can't be THAT much better than what I do at home. Nah

Never thought of doing it in the chimney starter, looks like a good idea.
I know right, simple as hell.

I have a couple of RIbEyes to cook tonight, I might just fire up the actual grill since I am making more than 1 + Some Sausages I picked up from Trader Joes.

But the next time I am doing a single serving, I will use this method

Yeah, I'm the same with you regarding Filipino food. Only, I can only eat so much of it and then I get tired. But if the place has filipino breakfast, bangus, or lechon kawali, I'm down.

Me three :lol. My dude and I avoid Filipino food when we go out.
Also, you guys notice that Filipino restaurants charge a lot, but skimp like crazy? Totally not worth the price, unless you don’t have time to cook or are desperate for a quick fix. Home cooked Filipino food ftw, it tastes better too.

Yes, Filipino food is ridiculously expensive. I don't understand it.

I wish I could go and eat Filipino breakfast everyday. I’d die young but happy. Also my family’s lumpia shanghai recipe is aight, but I like the ones from catering places that taste better and are bigger.

Filipino breakfast is something I do miss. Tapsilog or Bangus.

I was also considering trying to make lumpia from scratch, but haven't had the time to do it.
