FOOD THREAD VOL. GRUB LIFE

Is there any truth to this “messing with customer’s food who don’t tip” business? Not that that I have any personal worries. I’m a great tipper, just curious.
they will mess with your food for any reason. not tipping has to be high on the list. just google it. there’s lots of video evidence of food service workers doing all types of crazy ****…especially the lower level establishments

Anybody got any good ramen or udon recommendations in Waikiki?

I know there’s a few of them in that area but wondering which is a good balance of delicious, not wildly expensive, and also accessible.

I like yama udon in stix. Handmade noodles, cheap, and its actually udon in soup (unless its stir fried if its yakiudon) unlike the wildly overrated udon in sweet beef gravy like marugame.

Ramen in the area isnt great from what I've tried. Best I've had is probably hokkaido santouka thats attached to don q.

For a pretty longtime now I've heard rave reviews about a dish called "jerk chicken" from my Jamaican & other Islander co-workers. They all swear it's the best thing ever.

There's a ton of places that have jerk chicken in my city but none of them are halal. Recently a co-worker told me of a spot locally that has halal jerk chicken. I've never seen anyone do it following the Islamic dietary laws but thankfully I was put on to this spot. It's called Halal Bros Grill & it's on 247-14 S Conduit Ave, Queens,NY.

I went around lunch & they were getting pretty packed. I went with the jerk chicken platter, jerk chicken quesadilla, onion rings & fries. Got a quesadilla for my pops too & he loved it. The jerk chicken platter was delicious especially with the jalapeño sauce.

I can see why people speak so highly of jerk chicken. I have nothing to compare it to but if this is the real deal it was an awesome experience. Next time I'll try their burgers.

It definitely was a delicious & filling meal. Can't wait to try their burgers.
All of that probably a cool 2k if not slightly more. I’m assuming Z split it
Def more than 2k calories, lol. And yes, I split it. No way I can eat all that especially in 1 sitting I still got my quesadilla for lunch later today. Now if it were pizza that'd be a different story, lol I'd demolish an entire pie by myself  #FatBoyLife.

Damn that's kinda crazy there isn't a lot of halal Caribbean spots in NYC. I can think of a handful in Toronto just off the top of my head. Would've thought the same in NYC

First time going to a Dave’s Hot Chickens (Owings Mills). Got the extra hot. Probably could’ve done the hottest one. It was good though. Wasn’t sure if I needed to add another tender or not, but glad I didn’t.
