I'll never forget flying to Vegas years ago, and a large group of fat to obese people got on. They walked on. When the plane landed, there were a dozen wheel chairs waiting to carry them off. I'm, like, "ya'll walked onto the plane. Ya'll can walk off."

Edit: according to my flight attendant friend, they require the wheelchairs because they can walk DOWN the jet way, but can't walk UP at their destination.
