TheHotel is nice and Mandalay is going to be revitalized with Light opening up next month.

That end of the strip is making a come back with Hakkasan at MGM.

This summer is going to be live

It'll be a nice change from the oligopoly that is Marquee/XS/Surrender and to a lesser extent Tryst as far as EDM goes.

Hakkasan has a soft open of April 18th. Dude didn't mess around. Ya'll know the story of why he is opening it right?

Yup

For those who haven't - http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2012/dec/24/megabucks-djs-news-billionaire-spurned-vegas-backs/

"“The Hakkasan venture is bankrolled and backed by a mega-wealthy Middle East billionaire. He was a regular high roller at another luxurious Las Vegas nightspot but became disgruntled when he was turned down for a specific table that he wanted one night. He said he was disrespected; he said he’d open his own place to teach them a lesson."

It was Marquee right?

Hotel didn't used to matter to me outside of location but as I've gotten older and more experienced in Vegas, I realized it does make a difference.

There's just a different level of energy and crowd quality at a nice hotel with a major club.

Also the convenience of needing an elevator ride vs a taxi ride to get yambs back, the convenience of going back to the room from the cluv
When I was young (and broke) I would think just get a room anywhere, even off the strip. But as you get older, you stat thinking differently. I'd rather pay a lil extra out of pocket and have the conveniences mentioned above

I also forget to mention the convenience of having good restaurants in house.

A few years ago when XS was at its peak pre-Marquee we stayed at Encore and never left the WynnCore complex. Only time we were outside was at the pool and at XS (went both nights). This is an extreme case but shows the benefits

This is the truest statement in the thread about hotels. When I was in college we always just stayed at the Luxor and thought that was fun.

Staying somewhere nice and having connections makes all the difference in the world. Spend that extra money and enjoy a nicer place. Taking the yambs back to Venetian/ Palazzo when u were at TAO or TAO Beach all night/ day is simple.

what do you guys think about going to vegas for MDW?

I've found it to be crowded and over priced, I've had a better time going the weekend before and even weekend after.

This.

Every weekend during the summer cracks in Vegas and is crowded off SoCal folks alone.

MDW and LDW are too damn expensive and packed, only worth it if you have hopkups or are ballin

If you want to go on a bigger weekend, look into cinco de mayo, july 4th, or a major fight. You'll get the extra level of craziness without paying too much more.

Last year scored a great deal at Cosmo for Cinco De Mayo/Mayweather v Cotto. Had a ridiculous time

Prices are ridiculous on holiday weekends. Like dude said above, if you got money and/or hook ups it's cool, if not just go any other weekend in the summer, it's still gonna be crackin

If you're a sports gambler and like to drink, hit up the sportsbooks, make your bets, get your free drink tickets, then a few minutes later go back to the sportsbook and show them your betting receipts and say, "I forgot to get my drink tickets." 8)

If ur trying to get free drinks like this, you shouldn't be in Vegas.

To be fair, the casinos probably don't give a crap about some nitwit going the extra mile to score one extra super watered down drink. Also, it's people that which is why many place sin Vegas put a small tear in receipts that could be redeemed twice (like nightclub covers, and such).

Are pool parties going to be even cracking this weekend?  Im going to be in Vegas too this weekend with some buddies but decided to skip the pool parties because the weather says its going to be 60-67 degrees all weekend.

Walked past MDC at 1 pm today, security was bored out of their minds. Just not warm enough. Zero traffic. And, if you're In the shade right now, forget it. Cold as hell (relatively speaking).

any good sneaker shops to check out ?

Suite 160 - inside the shops at Mandalay Bay
Undefeated - corner of Harmon and Paradise
Fruition - corner of Flamingo and Maryland
