And you know the same people he continues to screw over will still vote for his party again and again (unless his policies literally kill them).
Voting-wise, TX is the most restrictive state in the nation. It is also among the most gerrymandered. The state is effectively under minority rule. I have no doubt that if internal polls reveal that only a few tens of thousands support Abbott, the TX legislature will try to write laws to disenfranchise all areas that might not vote for him.

They're that corrupt.

All this is true.........the reason why TX still managed to lose in the general election again was because those multiple "itty-bitty" rural counties with like a population of 50-100 ignorant hillbillies all managed to combine enough popular votes to outnumber all the "highly populated cities" of TX with their popular vote.......enough to secure Trump the electoral votes from this state to hang on for his dear life as Biden swept him.

TX was close to letting Biden take their electoral votes.......until those multiple small rural counties took it back.

Not to mention the TX State legislature is trying to make it even more restrictive for voting now, which doesn't help for the next couple of generations of terms.

I hope I'm wrong but didn't the deep South get hit super hard last year right as the weather changed and people went into air conditioned spaces?
And then the fall hits, and we'll see the upper north get hit hard first. I hope vaccines are having some effect. We'll know more in a month or so as WI and MI may be the first to peak. It doesn't help the entire deep South is less vaccinated than the rest, so the multiplier is obviously worse.

I really wish schools would make testing a priority. Even if they tested all students 1x weekly on a rolling basis with rapid antigen tests it would be better than just flying blind hoping for the best.

They tried to push for more testing last year here in NY, but a lot of parents starting putting pressure on the city to lessen the testing standards. Eventually the testing standards got whittled down to nothing. The ugly truth is that school is free baby sitting. I’d like to think it will be different this time as last year, kids weren’t considered to be at risk. Reality is, they will probably push even harder this time. A bunch of them actively conspired to not inform the schools of potentially infectious families. Humans can really suck.
