If there's one positive I could think of from this outbreak it's the pleasure of cycling with virtually zero cars in the vicinity.

this is exactly what dr fauci and every single doctor was afraid of when that moron got on stage and told every dumbass to go out and take it off-label. Who the hell is giving out prescriptions for this like candy?! Smh

steroids aren’t effective? Sorry she and you have to go through this BS :frown:

One of my cousins has lupus but I'm not really familiar with how the disease functions.
Is a 1 month delay something that could result in severe symptoms for your wife if your supply runs out before a refill?

Man I’m sorry to hear that. This just sums up the stupidity and selfishness of this country. It’s like people getting tested who have zero symptoms but wanna waste a test just to make sure they don’t have it. That’s not how it works.
We are extremely blessed being the type of lupus she has is the less severe type called “Discoid Lupus” where the disease itself only effects her skin. But she does have an autoimmune disease which has to do with her hemoglobin called thalassemia. Her meds are very important especially during this time where the last thing we want is her immune system even more compromised. I have an aunt who has “systemic lupus” which deals with organs and I could only imagine the people having to deal with prescription issues at this time.

Doctor did mention there are others out there who just fill scripts for the sake of doing it, which is idiotic to me. Either way, she’s tough as nails and if there’s anyone who’s not gonna panic with the shortage of meds right now is her! Thanks fellas!

Y’all be in the way tho
In the way of what? I literally didn't see a single car today on my bike ride besides a few police vans on patrol to make sure everyone was following the guidelines for cyclists. It's not as if people are suddenly cycling on the road instead of our cycling lanes, at least not that I've observed.

I think their citizens are just really much more compliant with social distancing.

+ their initial aggressive testing to isolate a large number of infected people as quickly as possible

South Korea, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Taiwan all took immediate action while for the next three months, the rest of the world did nothing/went out of their way to make things worse

I'm not surprised. Most of the foreign workers in Singapore are people who frequently travel back and forth between Singapore and Indonesia, India, and Malaysia (three countries that essentially have zero testing relative to the population and are experiencing/will experience massive outbreaks). I'm actually also impressed at how much SG has been able to keep the numbers in check when you think about how SG is the biggest transit airport in the region

Tiger tests positive for coronavirus at Bronx Zoo, first known case in the world
The big cat is the first known case of a non-domesticated animal with COVID-19 symptoms—and is one of seven sick tigers at the New York zoo.

Gotta say. I thought I'd miss sports. I really haven't. I guess the weather turning has helped me be outside a lot. I thought I'd miss the sports book and betting. I don't. Same with the casino in general. I'm still buying my booze and getting take out 2-3 times a week, so it's not all cold turkey on bad habits. How are some of y'all doing with that?

I miss sports but not that much. Ive been meaning to get outside more but have been keeping myself occupied doing Spring cleaning and building my workspace/battlestation/PC. Gonna be raining this week too so dont know if I will be getting out much.

I'm really surprised Hong Kong hasnt been hit worse considering how densely populated the city is (like NYC) and the amount of people traveling to and from China.

They were hit hard right at the beginning, but they also sealed off travel to/from mainland China almost
immediately.
Also, my friends living in Taiwan/Hong Kong were talking about how when they returned from their business trips in China around that time, they were escorted by authorities to a hotel and placed in a 2 week quarantine straight off the plane.

You need to put a face on their stories too.

The viral exposure and the hours they work, it's not exactly an immune boosting environment and they know it.
yea, some need of real proof. No posing or anything like that.

I remember seeing posts in here talking about how those countries were probably lying about their #s lol

But yeah those countries def did their thing. I think what helped them was that they had to deal with the first sars incident. Hopefully, America is more prepared next time.

Just found out my cousin back home was tested positive. She went to 1 hospital twice and they turned her away both times I guess because the symptoms she was having wasn't strong enough. She then went to another hospital and they admitted her with pneumonia. She found out today she had it. They put her to sleep and shes on a ventilator because she has chronic asthma. My mom works for a senior living retirement home and they have a strict policy that if you have been around someone that was tested positive, you have to tell them and stay home quarantine for 14 days because she was around my cousin and her son recently. My mom says feels ok but man this **** is freaking me out thinking how many of my family members can/could've contracted this just from being in contact with my cousin. This is starting to hit home for me know. I cleaned my apt up and down today. Sanitized everything. I trust my cousin will beat this thing. So just trying to stay positive best I can. Please be vigilant out there guys.

Definitely. When you arrive at the airports at those countries, you have to walk through temperature scanners (takes zero additional time) right when you deboard. Although that doesn't help too much with this specific virus due to the incubation period

A)it's at least better than the zero-precaution policy at Western airports.
and
B)it shows that they take these issues seriously and aren't cutting corners

Also, SKorea got hit hardest amongst those nations because they never, to this day, stopped flights from China...all they did was stop direct flights from Hubei and that was recently.

Moon Jaein cannot go against big bro Xi.

My friends in Japan have been expecting this upcoming outbreak for the past few months for the same reason-too many flights from China were continuing to flow into Japan even after January. Anything for that tourism $$$ :smh:

Opening day is one of the most important days of the year for me and sports in general keep me sane. But I rely on baseball in particular as something to look forward to every day during the season.

I've been thinking, theres so many factors in play, but I don't see gatherings of large crowds being allowed until August the very very earliest.

Like when do ya'll think we can start filling up arenas for games, concerts, etc? 10k, 20k+ type events? I say November or potentially next year altogether. I think barring a miracle theres no chance for a physical democratic convention even in August.

I think restaurants and movie theatres will open up on a limited basis, like limiting capacity, but its hard to see that before August, especially since when they open stuff up they close it right back in places like China where its "contained".

Abe set to declare coronavirus emergency for Japan
Officials talk of declaration any day now as COVID-19 cases jump

"Abe has been criticized for not having already declared an emergency -- a hesitance thought by many to stem from a strong desire to hold the Olympics this summer in Tokyo as originally planned. The International Olympic Committee decided in late March to postpone the games to 2021 after consulting with the prime minister and others."

This has been obvious from the beginning. What a waste of 3 months of downplaying the virus for something that was inevitably going to be rescheduled. What athletes/tourists would've even shown up if it wasn't postponed by the IOC? I mean that's just basic common sense, no?
