agreed that we may not have seen the best of Nik. Kings easily could be holding him back. My take on Nik is that he was not super highly touted, but his tourney and pre-draft workouts catapulted him to that 8th pick. I think he tested better in the agility drills than most thought. and also I remember his dribbling being better than most expected.
that said, still seems like a risk at this point in the game but who knows, it could be a steal. I'm just not how sure this organization would invest in enabling Stauskas. We don't really "enable" any of our youngster. Mostly just trial by fire at random moments.
taking away the pick in that scenario leaves basically TJ/Pap for Darren/Nik....
I'd argue that TJ alone should be enough to get Collison/Nik. That's probably some bias there, and would truly be determined on the open market.
as for that 2nd pick, for all intents and purposes, that's a late 1st rounder.

I've heard we could get Andrew Harrison there. I really want the hometown homie to get his mind right and play for us. I again go back to us not really enabling youngsters, so ehh. But if you look at this mock draft, there's some youngsters who could still pan out to be high level talent. I really wouldnt want to trade out of this draft unless we're getting a bonafide starter or a role player that we're 100% comfortable with their contributions as a starter or 1st/2nd option off the bench.
Looking at that mock, you have guys like Cliff Alexander, Joseph Young, Terry Rozier, Rakeem Christmas (something tells me this guy is gonna be a steal) going early/mid 2nd. I'm still a fan of hoarding talent, even if we don't enable it correctly.
