How much sleep does a person need?

Wish I could sleep 8. It takes me a while to finally go to sleep and I almost always wake up at 1-3 for about 30 minutes. Never feels like I get a good nights sleep :\

i feel better if i get more, but i can function regularly on 4 or 5 hours...

days where i work from home ill sleep little the night (3-4 hours) before but if i into the office, ill try to get more the previous night (5-6 hours) since i need energy/focus for the drive...

Anyone have ways to get better sleep? For some reason I just can't fully sleep 7 hours, I tend to wake up like 2 times during the night or just wake up way earlier then I should.

heard white noise machines work well

Okay, so the oversleeping that makes you more tired even though you think the opposite would be true
Pretty standard-- that's like sleeping more than 8, and for me pretty rare

ive stayed up all night since I was a kid
and I would always have a great day running off no sleep, more social, all that ****
so in college, I would do it about once a week just bc I liked it

And then like today for example, I got 3 hours. I average anywhere from 4-6.
But like , aside from the allnighter thing, the less I'm sleeping the happier I am.

also probably completely unrelated but I don't dream. straight up flat out.
I know they say that I just don't remember them when I wake up, so yeah- that.
I will awake and remember a dream maybe once every couple months
or when I partake in the reefers. That increases my probablity of remembering a dream by a ton
No idea why, but I do know this whole topic is fascinating. I've always wanted to be apart of a sleep study
