I dont even think its close. Deron Williams is head and shoulders above all PGs

Deron >>>>>>>> Paul for the simple fact he never punched anyone in the nuts. Its quite simple really.

Just something to think about:

last season, paul scored or assisted on 49.1% of the hornets' FGM last season, the highest mark in the league since john stockton's 51.6% in 90-91.paul has actually improved on that number this season, and is currently at 52.1% (229 FGM and 374 AST, 1157 team FGM)

this season:
dwyane wade (29.0 pts, 7.1 ast) .481
lebron james (27.7, 6.6) .436
joe johnson (22.3, 6.1) .403
kobe bryant (27.0, 4.6) .361
andre miller (16.0, 6.3) .337
chris duhon (12.2, 8.2) .323
jose calderon (12.9, 8.5) .306 (he's missed a few games)
luke ridnour (10.6, 5.3) .237

previous:
john stockton (17.2, 14.2) .516 (after poking around, i'm pretty sure this is the record) (most AST in a season)
oscar robertson 63-64 (31.4, 11.0) .486
lebron james 05-06 (31.4, 6.6) .480
michael jordan 88-89 (32.5, 8.0) .469
isiah thomas 84-85 (21.2, 13.9) .461
wilt chamberlain 61-62 (50.4, 2.4) .457 (most FGM in a season)
allen iverson 05-06 (33.0, 7.4) .449
kobe bryant 05-06 (35.4, 4.5) .447
magic johnson 86-87 (23.9, 12.2) .444
deron williams 07-08 (18.8, 10.5) .435
steve nash 06-07 (18.6, 11.6) .414
baron davis 07-08 (21.8, 7.6) .374
larry bird 86-87 (28.1, 7.6) .371

Beyond the initiative of this post, the fact that you threw in Arenas completely threw your reputation, if you ever had any, out the window.

I've always like Williams game better then Paul's, but Paul is a better player no questions...long term I do want the bigger body and weight, but thatis just me.

offensively i give deron the edge...he's more versatile for sure.

defensively, paul without question.

Honestly i never imagined deron would be this good...watching him play at illinois, he looked fat, slow, unathletic, awkward, out of place. Even though he wentdeep in the tourney his last year..i was shoked when he was drafted 3rd.

no offense.but u couldnt have watched him play alot..me being from illinois i guess i saw ALOT of his games and trust me he was chubby andfat..but he still managed to possess athleticism and NEVER looked awkward or out of place

I haven't seen much of D Will's game but I would say both of them are good at their own strengths. I didn't watch the Olympics either so if someonecan tell me which of the two played better that would be great. But it is true that he single handily turned that franchise around. Though he is undersized heis good at what he does

I never knew of the love that ppl have for Deron Williams on this board.

I'm not a fan of either, and I even said during the group stage of the Beijing games that I'd prefer Deron over CP3 to start if Kidd wasn't thestarter (a preference that shifted in favor of Paul by the end of the Olympics)...but the truth is that

CP3 > Williams.

CP3 > Williams at 100% too.

I guess people on this board just have somewhat of a dislike for Paul...but from this thread, I can see for a fact that Williams has a lot of fans here.

If u had to start a team from scratch in a fantasy draft and you had the first pick...but can only choose between Paul and Williams...your team's ownerwill fire you for choosing Williams.

everybody rides waves. when all is going well for Paul, he's hands down the best. Then they go head to head and Deron's the best. Then Paul has asurge, and Paul's the best.

I think they are right there neck and neck. Could go either way, and it all depends on what style you like. I prefer the bigger PG...pause...but let'snot forget what Deron did to the Spurs in the playoffs. Selective memory FTL

I don't think either is "head and shoulders" better than the other, but I'll take Chris Paul 9 times outta 10.

Like KLJ said, DWill's only real advantage over CP3 is size and outside shooting, and he's not even better than CP at that at the moment. I'll takePaul's superior passing, court vision, dribble penetration and ability to break down defenses anyday.

I never knew D-Will got so much love on NT

CP3 is doing a lot better this year, but I think that is largely because of D-Wills ankle, cause all the games when he came back only scoring like 6 a game. But he is starting to get into the flow of things now, i think the assists will even out by the end of the season, but i also think paul will always score morethan D-Will, because he needs to score more. At any given night, up to 7 different players can get you 20+ points for the Jazz, the Hornets need paul to get atleast 20 to win, so I dont look at point differential that much, and rebounds, i dont know why Williams doesnt get more, because he should. Defense goes toPaul no questions asked, but i thnk D-Will has a nastier crossover for sure.

To each his own, they are both All-Stars who will battle for many years to come

its not that laughable, both players have comparable skill sets. this is in stark contrast to the kobe/lebron comparisons.
