but that's coming from a rockets fan.. so i'll pretend you didnt say anything..

i think something that could've changed the nba history, was if len bias never OD'd, cause that would bring boston back, and it would give jordan a legit rival. unless you wanna consider Nique a rival.. perhaps people would be taking differently about jordan now, if len bias was still alive and playing

late on this thread but THIS! smh US coulda been in in final 4. outplayed germany and everything.
People always say this as if that handball being called would have 100% put the US through to the semis. Far from the truth. Had the handball been called, the US would have had to convert the penalty, which you would expect them to do. That said, Oliver Kahn was considered the best goalie at the time, and scoring a PK against him was no foregone conclusion. In fact, Kahn won the Golden Ball as the best player in that World Cup, a feat that had never been done and hasn't been repeated since. If the penalty goes in (or if what was meant by this post was the defender didn't touch the ball and the goal had been scored), the US is in a tie game against Germany. Maybe they score again and pull out the win, who knows. If the game goes to penalties, you're again facing the best GK in the world. There is also the fact that Germany has NEVER lost a PK shootout in the World Cup. They're just good at PKs.
There's no doubt that this goal would have put the US in position to possibly advance to the semis, but it wasn't a situation like many others posted here in which the outcome of the play would have certainly changed the outcome of the game.

As a soccer nerd I couldn't resist the urge to point that out.

It's all speculation, but I think the smart money would have been on Kahn in a shootout. Just the year before he'd saved 3 penalties to help Bayern win in the Champions League final.

Not sure where you can watch the game, but there is like an 8-minute highlight clip on YouTube.

This is maybe the most interesting answer, because of the effect it would have had on Jordan's "legacy." I hate that word as much as any other rational sports fan, but Pippen and the Bulls winning without Jordan would have to completely change the way you look at MJ's career and the rings he won.

.... never been so blown on a game in my life. The bad part is when he fumbled the snap...i almost thought he was gonna to run it in...smh.

i still think Terry glen was more to blame for that game fumbling in our own endzone.
where can you find a play by play of certain games (like that one?) i remember that fumbled snap being like the 3rd mistake that cost us that game.
