Yeah you are in the wrong field then man, we stare at a screen for most of the day except to run errands while still on the clock. Hit up the shoe store, go test drive cars, go home watch some TV, have repair people come home. Nothing cripples a business faster than incompetent IT personnel.

If your job primarily uses windows learn powershell. If linux learn bash. Wouldn't hurt to learn python either.
Edit: Also look into Puppet, Chef, and Ansible.

Looking to make a move to Networking. Currently 2yrs helpdesk at a gov contractor downtown DC. Got the A+, Net+, Sec+ Which expire December this year but gonna renew thru CertMaster since that’s the easiest way. Just the Sec+ since that will renew the underlying. Studying for my CCNA now, going the two route exam.
Been studying a couple weeks now. Lammle’s book and Chris Bryant on UDEMY. Haven’t done any sims yet, think I’m ready to jump into that. Network engineer at work recommended GNS3. Trying to stay focused, a lot of material to digest.

Another useful thing for me was the Darrill Gibson apps on iPhone. They’re not free but it’s basically buying a lunch. In your free time open the app and do some questions/flash cards. I included a sample pic from the A+. I just hit the areas with the highest percentage of questions hard.

Only book you need, I went backwards
. Did my Sec+, Net+, then said F it and took the A+. So I didn’t need to really crack the book for A+. But oh yea I’m sure it’s been mentioned here and all over the Internet. YouTube Professor Messer, Short boring videos (but a bunch of them) but very helpful. Then do some practice tests.

I'm starting a data analyst role next week. I need to get my network + and security + in the first 90-120 days. Any recommendations for me studying and taking the exams?

Well that sucks I would figure the Sec+ would grant you the A+ anyways. Dragging my feet on studying for the CASP, but I definitely ain't taking the Sec+. Keep hearing about CEH might look into that as well.Only book you need, I went backwards

These are the go to books for the test. Darrill Gibson has a website also (paid website) that’s gives you access to practice test, notes, and even some simulations which mirror the actual test. There’s some overlap in the two tests which sorta helps.
When it’s test time, I’d recommend getting the voucher with the “free” retake or if you have a .edu email use the student discount voucher.
120 days is enough time to get certified.
