Is Melo really a SUPERSTAR?

^^^ I don't think anyone would argue he is one of, if not the best scorers in the league. He scores in a variety of ways. I think him and Kevin Durant are at the top and they both make scoring look easy

People forget quickly..

He was on his way to an MVP that yr if he didn't throw that punch
It was more of a slap.

Yet his teams haven't really progressed since he has been there. What do you say against that argument?
And what would you say of LeBron who's teams regressed the last few years he was there?

Yes.

He's very underrated, and he's also at least a Top 5 scorer in the league today.

Sig line, Jordan brand, 3X NBA All-Star ... how is he not?

I would say, you gotta be crazy to blame him for Denver not advancing deep into the playoffs every year.
03-04 - Lost to Number 1 Seed (Western Conference Finals Runner-Up) Timberwolves in 5 games

04-05 - Lost to Number 2 Seed (NBA Champion) Spurs in 5 games

05-06 - Lost to Number 6 Seed (2nd round) Clippers in 5.  Clippers had better record and home court in the series.  Nene out for season. Andre Miller was the #2 scoring option

06-07 - Lost to Number 3 Seed (NBA Champion) Spurs in 5.  Same team that swept Eastern Conference Champion Cleveland.

07-08 - Lost to Number 1 Seed (Finals Runner Up) Lakers in 4 with K-Mart coming off of injury, and Nene recovering from cancer.

08-09 - Lost to Number 1 Seed (NBA Champion) Lakers in 6.  This was the ONLY team out of his entire career that was healthy and well rounded.

09-10 - Lost to Number 5 Seed (2nd round) Jazz in 6.  Head coach out with cancer, K-Mart with knee injury, Birdman with patella injury, and Nene out with a knee injury at the end of the series.

It's not like he was losing series he was supposed to win.  He has been losing to conference finalists and NBA champions almost every single season.  And when your big men are injured every single season, how can you expect to be consistent and get a high seed to ensure home court?

My biggest issue with NBA fans and critics is that, they very rarely open their eyes and recognize the importance that circumstance and luck plays into the career of an NBA player.
For example...Kobe Bryant is an incredible basketball player.  One of the greatest of all time.  But what happens, if he's given the teams AI had all his career for example?  He's ringless.  And if he's ringless, and volume shoots (which he most certainly would have done on those teams)...is he still viewed the way he is today?  Of course not.  AI has had

Vince Carter is another great example.  His performance in New Jersey was outstanding....and he never gets any credit for his performance during those seasons.

04-05 = 27-6-5.  Lost to East Conf runner up Miami Heat.

05-06 = 24-6-4. Lost to NBA Champion Heat.  He bullied Wade all season long (Finals MVP season).  Gave him 51, 43, 43, 28 w/ triple double. Averaged 30/7/5/2 in the playoffs that year on 46% from the field.  But his overall team outside of Kidd and Jefferson was trash.  And they lost in 6.

06-07 = 25-6-5. Lost to NBA Finals Runner up Cavs.  Same team.  Lost in 6.

07-08 = The year Kidd leaves, 21-6-5.

08-09 = 21-5-5 RJ leaves and they are still almost in playoff contention...missed the 8th seed by a couple games.

09-10 = That very same squad becomes the WORST team in all of basketball and a running joke on SportsCenter the year that VC leaves.  Same exact squad...minus VC.  And the wheels fall off.  But he gets no credit for it.

My point is...people don't pay attention to the quality of teams and the situations that occur, and how that affects a player's chance of success.  There's a huge difference between having stacked teams, and not meeting expectations and falling apart when you're supposed to win, and having a team that is weak and not very talented, and your big men are Jason Collins and Mikki Moore...yet you're supposed to win something?
