It just hit me...Kanye is a genius.

When the album first dropped, I believe I said that 808s & Heartbreaks wouldn't be appreciated until later on down the line as a true work of art.

I don't really care about this argument, but I think people forget how awesome Crack Music is. I feel like people bring up all these great Kanye songs andthen forget one of his best.

I've never thought about it like that, but honestly his political songs are really his best ones.

Never Let You Down (Also gotta be one of Jay's best verses)
Diamonds
Roses
Spaceship
Apologize
All Falls Down
Crack Music

You're right now that I sit here and write this post and think about it. Kanye has a REALLY good way of connecting with people through his music. Some ofhis best bars are where he's actually talking about REAL issues. Musically, he still has it but he hasn't talked about anything important (to mepersonally) since Late Registration.

Exactly... thats where he was really on a path to actually make mark.

All this new superficial #*!# he's on now a days just doesn't cut it with me I'm sorry.

Dog I was havin nervous breakdowns like "Man these _'s that much better than me?!?!"

I miss this Kanye. That might be my favorite Kanye line.

Agreed. Main reason why I was the only one who disliked Graduation, *@*# was just a glorification of himself.

And

Kanye doesn't make or create music. He pushes buttons that spit out sounds and then throws them together. He sure as hell isn't an "artist"

at this thread and the fool above. Kanye aint no genius though.

You want some knee pads while you're down there homeboiiiiiiiii
Naw you're just an idiot. People who've seen me post before know I'd barely register as a Kanye fan, much less a stan. You just made a laughable comment indicating how little you know of what you speak. Keep it movin.

I'm terribly sorry I'm not up-to-date on past history and feelings regarding music on an internet forum. Is there maybe a book orpublished work I could read so I be caught up with your very important thoughts regarding such things. It would help make this conversation a lot better.Thanks.

Don't be sorry, just don't say stupid %!!# my dude

first of all patna, u have no idea what my bank account looks like, so u can kill that irrelevant s***.........

2nd, beanie & killer mike werent trying to be big producers before they were rappers, they were always just tryin to break in as MC's, and yes they paid they dues, but that doesnt mean every rapper does that........

and it has nothing to do with the game being one dimensional, kanye came into the game strictly as a producer, and did that successfully for several years, then saw how watered down everything was and decided to try and change it by making lame music and wearing g*y clothes, yet calling it "different and unique" and having all the kids nowadays thinking hes some savior or revolutionary...........smh

We do due to the fact that um ok u needed to respond. Second your nowhere near the celeb status or financial status as Kanye. Again lets suppose u are someoneof importance(highly unlikely) Did you get your claim to fame and money simply by pushing A BUTTON.So its safe to say you had 2 earn or work to get what uaccomplished in life. With that being said y would u work ur tail off to be middle maybe upper middle class when u coulda just pressed A BUTTON. Racist? no im black and white and well no im not racist.
Homophobic? maybe a lil but i support gays and their struggle. a struggle that i find eerily similar to that of the blacks and other minorities.
Insecure? i dont see the connection.

Um how can u make an assesment/judgement about a person when u dont know them. BF um ok lol thats real mature. Um money wise lol who are u fooling. And u donthave to be famous to be a producer etc. If u have all this wealth and insight on the game, why dont u do something 2 bring about a change suitable to urmusical taste.Itchin and complaining on a sneakerboard accomplishes what exactly. Its a put up or shut up case scenario. If he is so wack please bless us withur amazing musical talents.Anyone can throw stones and hide they fingers. If he is so wack and garbage why did u take the time to even listen to it? Why did ueven acknowledge his music? U cats remind of the kid on the porch saying this and that about a person and saying how u would do this, or they so wack, they thisand that yet do nuttin about it. Ok if u feel the game lacks substance and has a poor quality of music, then instead of complaining and making immature andrather foolish comments, why dont u facilitate a change. As much as u ostrecize and criticize the music so much im sure u have a plethera of good music gemsjust swirlying around in ur head waiting for fruition. Ill be looking for all of u guys albums that trumps 808 and Heartbreak to be posted.

Honestly, I could give a *#++ about all of those groups. But I guess that is an accomplishment. Props to him?

PS - this guy has 4 albums and a few mixtapes and you come up with what? 7 bad songs? not even BAD, just not up to his standards? i'd say that's alright...

You stop that right now.

I count at least 9 bad songs off his last two albums alone.

Can you please elaborate...anyone can say false, all these people hating say nothing to back their statements up...

As far as the bolded part...REALLY? and I'M the crazy one?

9 bad songs off his last two albums alone? really?

Drunk and Hot Girls
Barry Bonds
Bad News
Love Lockdown

I'll give you those 4...what are the other 5?

you can say that, but who is then? Everything about Kanye is the Prince or MJ of this generation.

True. Him, Blaze and 'The Heatmakers' got that sampling $+$% very popular. At least in regards to hooks. If your talking about soul sampling strictly for beats, then I'm going to have to vehemently disagree because people like Primo and PR had been doing it for ages.
EXACTLY.

I didn't even know what sampling was until I heard Through the Wire...not because I'm not knowledgeable about hip hop, but because I really startedgetting into beat making when Kanye dropped. Ye is the RZA of my generation. All his music has a CONCEPT. A purpose. And even though I love ALL hip hop, youdefinitely can't say that about all our MCs and beat makers. Especially in MY generation.

His body of work speaks for itself. If anything it's his personality that turn people off from his music. Which is too bad. But *$$% it, every movementrecquires an opposition.

Despite anyboby's opinion on dude, he WILL go platinum the next time he drops a CD. Actions speak louder mane.

you can say that, but who is then? Everything about Kanye is the Prince or MJ of this generation.
Nah. He definitely hasn't reached that level yet, and there's a good chance he won't.

But he doesn't have to, he is the YE of this generation.

Well, I only like/ can stand 4 songs off 808's and heartbreak so that's 8 bad songs off top.

And the two trash songs you just mention.

So I was wrong.

That's 10.

I like 3/4 of those songs... A LOT. And Barry Bonds has its place from time to time, just I felt like Wayne should have come a little harder.

But Bad News and Love Lockdown are absolutely my favorites from 808.
