anyone going to OUTSIDELANDS mf in san francisco ?

I'm familiar with the mainstream djs. excited to see giraffage, and grime after three years :( and porter live is coo, I feel like I'm the only one that likes his dj sets better *come at me* anyway yeah odesza, dijon mustard on the beat, axwell /\ Ingrosso looking solid.

People I haven't seen yet that look interesting are get real and amon tobin (everyone is like OMFG for amon)

I'm obviously not a huge indie/folk fan but any recommendations would be appreciated. Hot chip and slightly stoopid get play time by me. I like toro y moi but only know of him because of his hype.

I'm not going to Outsidelands because I'm out of the country but I would've had I not. I would recommend Mumford & Sons, The Black Keys, Kendrick (if that wasn't already on youre lis). Those are most likely headliners of the night and often you have to choose on or the other. Last year for instance I had to choose between Tiesto or The Killers on the last night. Already seen Killers before so I went to Tiesto

Glass Animals is one you should check out, their like ODESZA

video is something else though

Cold War Kids is another to look for. They're the poor man's White Stripes.

But the best news I can give you is that besides the recommendations is that the lineup is there and all but there's a separate lineup for something called The house by Heineken. Its a really huge tent that only serves Heineken and has the atmosphere of a nightclub that only plays electronic music all day everyday. When I discovered it last year it was the best thing ever. spent hella time there. Gorgon City played and this year has Kidnap Kid, Eli & Fur (posted by someone last page I think), and a current favourite of mine Moon Boots

@M4rioL  yeee thanks for the info. I'm volunteering so I have a free friday pass but will have a saturday night shift **means no Kendrick :( ** and a sunday morning shift so I should be able to catch the sunday closers.

I will def try to make a lot of visits to the heineken house fsho (kidnap kid and moon boots), other than that I'll try to follow my ears. This was a completely unexpected event so I'm pretty juiced to go.

How was security ? As far as strict, how much they check you etc...

No problem man. You're lucky to volunteer and be a part of it. That's what I want to do with other festivals and raves lol. How'd you get that gig?

Since the Heineken house is 21+ there was almost no lines all the time. But I can imagine lines will show up when some big names are about to start but we're not talking big lines. It's house music you have to remember so it's by far the least popular part of the event unless your a huge house/techno head like a regular in this thread. Most people I can tell you just stumble into the Heineken house enjoy for 20mins and then leave mid-set of Moon Boots. Their loss.

Strictness wise they're hella anal about everything. They check all bags throughoutly and even you you brought a water completely unopened and sealed they open it and smell it. Happened to a girl in front of me last year. Older security lady took the smart water, opened and smelled it. Closed it and gave it a swirl. She didn't like the bubbles it made or something and dumped all the "water" saying it was all vodka. True or not she was doing too much.

Funny story though, I heard the story last year that when they planned the general area of where in GG park Outside Lands will be some guy went to the park and dug a huge hole and left hella alcohol there. With it he left a GPS tracking device. Festival time came, and he was the proud person walking around with a handle the entire time. Lol talk about dedication. Start digging man.

You'll have fun though. I discovered a lot of cool bands just based off friends vague recommendations and walking around and listening.

@M4rioL Homie of mines hooked it up. He's been doing it for a few years and reached out to us probably cuz he's tryna fill spots but I have no idea how he started. If I ever hear of more opportunities ill post it here or dm you if your down but my best advice is to ask volunteers at events how they got in. Im tryna find a way into treasure island this year (deadmau5, sts9, cashmere cat, chvrches) either finding a way to sneak in or volunteering trash pick up if they got it this year. Last time I was there i had a single day for major lazer, little dragon, and disclosure but I was a noob and didnt bring a jacket haha fuhhh amazing night tho me and alice d had a great time

wow security sounds bunk smh ill just try to get lucky and bar it somehow. that gps idea tho is EXPERT level hahahahahahaha btw i'm gon try sneak into beyond this year too, tickets are ridiculous

Went to this party the Friday night of Comic-Con. What a great time. The the boat left right before sunset and the weather was perfect. The first DJ, Henry Saiz, killed it. The second guy, Stimming, was decent, but the whole experience was fantastic.

@Shoryuken   I'm going to Beyond this year. Idk I want to make it my traditional "one rave a year" thing for when I get older lol. Hardwell tickets are going on sale this friday for Bill Graham auditorium in SF. Thinking about that one. did it last year but it was meh. He's no where near my list of top DJs just because he had a hot year in 2013.

as for sneaking into Beyond it is possible. friends did it last year. what they did is they walked around shoreline for a fence to climb and what not or an entrance, i can't remember to be honest but he noticed that several people were around him thinking about the same thing. so they decided to get a huge group together and when there was an opening in the fence they all bumrushed it and all stampeded in. security still wanted to find them and what a lot of them did was take off their shirts once they got in. My friend bought a shirt but that's nothing compared to buying the ticket.

I always wanted to be a volunteer at a rave or beyond for instance. would be so great

love that star wars themed set.

some dub

anyone have cool soundcloud accounts to follow?

no mainstream EDM / pseudo "deep" house  lol

I've heard this on a defected mix few months back and forgot about it, but something about it has me going nuts today

My friend has a pair of the gloves and I thought it was pretty cool. Used them for a bit. I think I'm going to get into it.
