Jobless and Frustrated NTers check in VOL. WE NOT-WORKIN!!!

Got a call yesterday morning from a temp agency about a resume i sent a few weeks ago, i almost completely forgot about it :lol

She just ran through the position, asked a couple quick questions about my resume and then scheduled an appointment for me to fill out paperwork

Said "it's more of an orientation than an interview" so I'm thinking I pretty much have the job but i don't wanna be over confident lol

quit my job last month and started to feel myself fall into a really bad pattern so the timing on this was perfect. higher pay than my last job + more hours :smokin

I've seen two people legit get people interviews by calling HR this week and they've done it several times since I've sat next to them. Hr works wonders when you're on the inside otherwise it's bad.

This thread could be a lot more useful if we had posters who have connections at their jobs or know people post in here. If I had a lifeline to throw, I definitely would. I'm waiting on a potential opening myself at the moment that I was contacted about. I want to see this thread die someday. Might be worth it to post our city/region if people are lurking and have some leads to offer. These are just suggestions.

This would be a good idea, but it's some shady people in the world!
I'm highly interested in this, but yea gotta watch out for the lurkers

What about food science
I'm not sure about that, I'm gonna check that out. Reason I said sports nutrition is because I'm an athlete myself and I love food.

Looking to connect with posters in Houston. Interested in opportunities in IT, mainly in the business segment of it.

I'm grateful to be working and I'm supporting myself without having to ask for support but this is wearing me out. I've got to find something else. My job is cool but they make it way harder than it needs to be.

This lil bs job I'm at now tried to play me heavy, i had to set that ish straight. Never let a job play you because they will try you everytime if you let it slide even once.

Landed a short term contract that'll run until the end of the year. Not the ideal situation, but it is money in my pocket and pays well. Currently in the running for a permanent role at a media company and have a second interview via Skype. Getting references has been a pain as two people from my last place of work have yet to reply. Only need one more and they haven't come through. Asking for references is a pain because you never know what people really thought of you until you seek them.

Officially jobless for 3 months today. :( :{

Food Science you can love food and sports still

What you play? Soccer?
yea I play soccer football, not egghand

that's how I felt at my last job but I kept grinding through it

I have a BA in Economics. With experience in healthcare (non-clinical). Looking to make the step towards supervisor.
Work seems much easier when you have your next career goal in mind. Just curious to see what are people's educational background-experience-career goal?
Me: Economics-Healthcare-Supervisor

That's something I had to learn the hard way early on:

Before you leave any gig, always ask 2-3 people you worked well with to be your references. Ask in person one-on-one so they can't dodge you. Of course, thank them for their help first and then ask.

The thing is that they told me if I needed anything just let them know. If HR says I can't use you, let me know. Don't leave me in the dark. I was able to submit my app to the company without the third one.

Thanks for the congrats BTW but I'll be right back in here if I don't get something long term before January.

Who said I was going to stop? I already know I have to keep looking while I'm doing that job which sucks. I'm still waiting to hear back on another potential offer that I was contacted about.

Agreed, never stop. I was in a similar position (had to interview while I was at a temp gig last year).

The constant grind is hard, but it's better to be looking for a gig while you already have one (even if temporary). I discussed this in length with @Antidope who's out there flourishing.

Yeah totally agreed, especially in regards to not telling anyone anything. Crazy how people won't truly be happy for someone who's trying to better themselves

You shouldn't stop applying just cause you have this gig

Applies to everything in life. Always be on the lookout for opportunities lowkey.

And don't tell anyone anything.
I should have listened to my parents when they told me to start looking elsewhere when that new manager came in :{

I worked with nothing but women and there was one who was absolutely the worst. The store manager knew she was a cancer to the team yet did nothing at all to get rid of her.
