yea, you really do have to leave off some stuff.  employers dont wanna hire and train you if they knew you are gonna jump ship real fast.  i told them i was still in school (when in fact, i already graduated a few yrs ago) and looking for pt work and that is how i got my job.  it is less stressful since you are getting a paycheck, but college grads dont wanna bust their !%* for low paying jobs when they got bills and loans to pay off.

Yea I had an interview with a District Manager for VZW and right when dude asked me my major he was like "You do know this is for a sales position correct?" (I`m a Computer Info Systems Major) So I whipped out my resume and he saw my yrs of sales and customer service experience, I had a great interview and he set me up for one in store. I crushed the store interview, but still didnt get the position lol, I mean dudes has the mentality "Son has a Non Marketing/Mnagment degree and a decent GPA, and we looking for ppl to work 40+ hrs a week, he good but he wont be here long" Can't blame em but still that sucks lol

Right now I`m waiting on some of my old professors to hit me up about reference letters so I can apply for this positon at my school and an Instructor postition at a Tech School. lol if dudes dont come through I swear I`m not giving a dime as an Alumni  lol

i heard those wireless cell phone jobs be bringing in cake...

any truth?

You've got to be ruthless, and take thousands of NO's on a regular basis while keeping your focus with those kiosk jobs

it is, but the market is getting over saturated, I came in at the end of the game and the stories I use to hear from yrs back was crazy how much bread ppl were making. I will say Working Wireless is the big leagues of retail, much more respectable and you make real money. I was going to transfer but the only openings for my company were Mall Kiosk, so I was like let me just test my degree out and leave but I left on good terms, so if I need to re apply I would be held with priority when it comes to interviewing. I will say the plus about working for VZW is they pay salary Plus Commission, but they only hire full time from what I see and they want people who really want to be sales people and not just someone who wants a job if that makes sense.  ATT and Tmobile are prob best to work for if you want to do schooling and such, because Part Time reps can make more then their managers if you are good at what you do and are at a good location.

I think ive settled on doing the truck driving thing.

I have to stay with 1 company for a year, or they wont pay the 5K for the CDL training. (Ill just owe)

I know someone that went through the same company im going through and he quit after the first week. (after he got his CDL and started company training). He went to a company that started off at 48K a year and was Local and hired drivers with no experience, but with a CDL, AND he would be home everyday, while the other company would only be home 1 day for every week you are gone.

Hopefully i have the same luck and can find a job that pays that much more and is local.........Or i might have to accept an over the road job until January. (because my license wasnt reinstated until 2007, i have to wait till 2012 to get most jobs because you cant have a suspension within 5 years and work for them)

went over and talked to the HR lady attached to a job with my company I recently applied for...

me: Hey, Ms. SoNSso, I was just stopping by again and wondering could you share with me any information on that Coordinator position I applied for

Her: Ohh, they gave that to SoNSo. Yeah that was already for her. She works with that already.

me: Ohh. I see. Yeah so most of the positions really already be designated for people right?

Her: No not really, well I dont know but this one was. But they have a specialist position that their putting up in a couple days. You should look out for it.

me: @#$%# Im over @#$% qualified for that and its gonna be the same #$%#$ Ohh ok, will do.

Truth on both levels but at the same time if you are in the right market/store you have the potential to make a good amount of money for very little work (effort wise that is).

Here in Colorado when the iPhone first came out there was a store in Boulder where reps were clearing 100k before AT&T wised up and cut back the commissions.

I've been following this thread for a while....

Def. been applying like crazy to a bunch of jobs.....except retail just can't do it, again.

Some of you guys/gals should look into Peace Corps or Americorps. The pay sounds fair and some of the benefits would be nice, i.e. the pay for school loans.

Tip: For those of you not hearing anything--revamp your resume, attach a cover letter, and make sure your references are singing your praises.

Another Tip: If you have a BS then def. look into teaching/tutor mad money to be made (independently or at institutions).

-Best of Luck-

Military Reserves! I've got a job, but I want more. The military hooks it up, and can either put you through school, help pay your loans back, and gives you career specific training. This isn't even active duty. We're talking roughly 38 days a year.

Made a post. Not hits yet.

You know whats crushing...getting multiple

"We appreciate your interest in the position and the time that you spent on our behalf. While we were impressed with your background and experience, we have identified other candidates whose qualifications more closely match the position requirements."

on the same day. I got 3 rejection emails 2day... from jobs i applied for over a month ago, last week and this past Tuesday.

Guess thats better than not hearing nothing at all but most of the time im applying to like 5 different positions with each company.

And they have a lot of positions that require no school and no experience. You can make 60-90k a yr easy!

Orientation is next Thursday

First day is on the 13th

Thankfully my boy referring me worked out... 6 months after I applied and 3 months after my interview

Good luck and good lookin' on that site.

Well, I'm not jobless but I have been pigeonholed since I came to this company. Today marks a big day because I have an interview doing claims at this job. This is one of the prime positions here at my company so I hope I get it.
