In my experience, if they say no just throw something else in with the purchase and they usually let it slide. I used a WCR on the Jams (bought a shirt at same time).

They didn't let anything slide you bought a shirt w/ your rewards and paid full price for the shoes.

Depending on the size you requested, you might still be in good standing.  I've won 7 minute headstarts.  Hell, my wife won a pair of Royals (after being waitlisted, but still) with a 0  head start, so it's feasible
