Jordan his Airness, says he can score 100 points in NBA today.

everyone knows that jordan is better than kobe. but no one is ever gonna say that there is any player better than jordan even if that player has better numbers, championships. according to some people on this board jordan is closest thing next to god, and you cant say anything bad about him.

i love jordan just as much as everyone else, but to say greatest ever? no, cause he didnt dominate his sport like gretzky did. it took jordan 6 years for his 1st championship and get kicked out every time before when he made the playoffs. putting up numbers is cool and people can say jordan has all those mvp trophies, but those are also credited towards his teammates and not just individual performances.
Why you edit your post bro?

It CLEARLY said "everyone knows that kobe is better than jordan"

I see that cover up.

look at how many euros are in the league, they make up a big portion.

in the 90's there were players who could shoot just as good as these guys, but were more athletic and played more physical

its young kids and the idiot laker fans that need to quit commenting on the nba. (theres is a few intelligent laker fans out there)

you guys are wasting bandwithd
How is it Hating to not think he could score 100 pts in a game? no one is taking anything away from Jordan as a player, no one is saying hes not great. We just think that 100 pts in a game is a reach...people call anything hate now-a-days...and trust me its more then just laker fans

   When did this happen?

and as for the euro players The fact that they had more athletic players then the euros that are playing now doesent matter because there are more athletic players then them now. There not in the league because of there athleticsm, there in the league because of there fundimentils that where never taught better here in any generation.

who can stop these guys in the post? without a double team?

post all their stats and tell me they dont have good to great numbers.

and how are the players today more athletic?

do you have proof?

human beings have not physically evolved in the last 15 years, that takes millions of years.

todays plaers arent doin anything thats the players in the 90's werent.

dumb

why dont you actually read what i said

when did i say they dont have good or great numbers? theres a big difference between having good or great numbers and being "unstoppable"

And i wasent saying the people playing now are more athletic then the people playing then.....what i said was that just like the euro players werent the most athletic people beck in the 90's they arent right now either

dumb

so like i said, who can defend said players 1 on 1 in the post?

all these guys are almost a guaranteed bucket if you let them go 1 on 1

so if they cant be stopped, wouldnt that make them unstopable?

What's there to feel threatened about, at the end of the day Kobe's had a top 10 career and the Lakers have won 8 titles in my lifetime. How does Jordan saying he would score 100 points come across as a threat to Laker fans?

Regarding the players in todays league. if they played in a more physical league  most of them would adapt to that style of play and if they didn't then they wouldn't be in the league.

Seriously though this thread has provided the usual, some members rushing to Jordans defense on any little thing while looking for every little reason to downplay other players achievements.

itsaboutthattime  posted some of Jordans best games and made some legit valid points and at the end of the day Mike is the greatest to ever play but some dudes on here make no sense when they discredit other players achievements. I've seen members on here do it when it comes to Kobe and when/if Lebron gets up there in titles there going to do the same thing when it comes to his achievments and it's dumb.

81 points in a 48 minute basketball game is 81 points regardless if it's against the 1992-93 11 win Dallas Mavericks or if it's against the Bad Boy Pistons, it's impressive and downplaying it is foolish.

Mike scored 69 points against the Cavs team that was worse defensivly then the Raptors,  I could care less  69 is 69 and you can't downplay that either it's an impressive feat.

What's stupid though is when people have that "No one can ever be better then Jordan" mentality.   I doubt Kobe or Lebron will ever surpass Mike but what's preventing someone in the future from doing just so. Whenever someone says that no one can ever be better then Jordan i ask them why and I can never get a valid response on that.

The "softer" NBA as you guys call it, wouldn't have really mattered. MJ was still getting the same superstar calls back then. That's a fact.

10 pages and only 2 people brought this up

Where were those calls when he played vs New York and Detroit??
He got physically abused in those regular season and playoff games.

If Paul Pierce could drop 46 points in a single half this past decade, MJ could definitely drop 50 in both + an eventual overtime. If Carmelo Anthony could drop 33 in a single quarter, MJ could definitely drop 25 over four + an eventual overtime against these 0 defense loser teams. Dwight Howard is a 2 time DPOY.
laugh.gif
That just shows how defensively weak this era is. If this was the late 80s or early 90s, I would bet everything I own that Dwight wouldn't finish top 5 in DPOY voting a single season. And I would win.

But gotta love hearing these noobs discredit MJ's 69 point game because it came in an overtime. Maybe you should also mention that MJ grabbed 18 rebounds that game. And had 6 assists, unlike Kobe who had 6 rebounds and 2 assists next to his 81. If prime MJ dedicated an entire season to trying to score as many points as possible, which was Kobe's 05-06 season in a nutshell, and used up the bulk of his energy on the offensive end unlike his 35.0 ppg season where he also won DPOY, you best believe that if MJ didn't drop 100 exactly, he would come very close.

And by the way, what about David Robinson? His 71 came in a non-overtime game.. Does that mean that David Robinson would have a better shot at dropping 100 than MJ?

A lot of you guys obviously didn't even read Jordan's full quote. He said that he'd be able to score 100 points in today's NBA not only because the league is softer, but also because he'd get to the line a lot more with the way they call fouls on anything anymore.

With that being said, after the Jordan era, the league became A LOT softer because players were not scoring as well as Jordan did. When the games ended with low scoring games, the fans got bored and revenues/ratings to the NBA took a huge hit. That's when the rules were changed to allow higher scoring games with the hopes of bringing excitement back into the NBA. Once again, it's all about Money (double entendre,
laugh.gif
). CREAM.

With that being said, yes, Jordan could score 100 points in a game because of the league's rules today.
