Jordan Retro 1 '85 Black/Red Feb 14th 2025

Decisions like the one to limit a beloved product to the masses reinforces that I know absolutely nothing about big business. Why can New Balance do a preorder but Nike can’t?

I’m not buying that Nike doesn’t have the infrastructure to make it happen and it would limit the pairs sitting. Even if they over produced to account for uninformed, wouldn’t it still leave the brand in the black?

As a person that fully planned to buy multiple shoes this year, this just makes me want to buy less.
New balance has factories in the United States that can produce and release sneakers at their leisure. Nike found out during the shipping crisis during the pandemic that they rely too much on importing products. Having a product that you can not guarantee you can deliver is bad business. Nike infrastructure isn’t as sound as you may believe.

It is not a guarantee that they can make a high quality product and deliver it as a GR.

If y’all only knew the amount of heart ache it took to produce that useless suitcase for the Jordan 17 lightnings you would understand why it was super limited😂

Nike is good with essentially saying they can’t do it? A multi billion dollar publicly traded company at that…

What it really amounts to is that they don’t think it’s worth it so they don’t want to do it 🤷‍♂️…Call a spade a spade…If they wanted to get it done it would happen…What they want is to drive the same sense of ~exclusivity~ they’ve been riding off the back of since forever…It costs them next to nothing to generate this hype and they’ll sell their lesser product on the FOMO tip as a result…Those Black Toe 1’s will sell out now, whereas there’s a good chance they could’ve been had on discount if they kept their original release date…

But I digress…

A far more important distinction in the comparison between Nike and New Balance is that Nike is publicly traded company with shareholders to answer to, New Balance isn’t…Nike will do everything they can to inflate their product while cutting costs and will roll right over their most loyal customers to do it if need be…Just so they can cater to their stock interests…What you want and your opinion of their strategies means absolutely squat to them…

Nike doesn’t innovate because it’s not cost effective…Nike won’t do massive runs on top quality product because it isn’t cost effective…Nike doesn’t bend the knee to their most loyal customers because they know they don’t have to…They’ll still sell that crap that costs them $.25 to produce for 500x profit and get mad at the consumer for not spending 1000x their cost to buy it…They don’t want to is far different than they can’t…

After finding out how limited these are, looking at them pisses me off I'm not gonna lie. I checked ebay out of curiosity to see if any backdoored pairs had been listed yet and a resell shop is selling them for $1200 :smh:

You don’t think things are different for the son of Michael Jordan and his first collaboration at his store?

So I’ve taken the time to talk to some folks close to the brand through friendships and or professionally.

They under no circumstances wanted these to “sit” to the point of almost being beyond paranoid about it. There solution? Limit them beyond measure to under 10k pairs to 23 wholesale retailers (not 23 stores only), but 23 different retailers accounts across many stores.

Each likely getting 1-2 size runs.

This release is a huge slap in the face to everyone to start the 40th anniversary. I hope 95% of releases sit this year and go on sale. The brand is so out of touch, they themselves have become greedy by over saturating the market beyond measure.

Then you limit the shoe that got you to the dance and screw the people over? Gross
Do those same folks ever mention their feelings about SNKRS? As far as is it botted like people think it is? What's the criteria that SNRKS considers when determining winners. Are they a fan of it etc.?

Wow is all I can say. It’s like rubbing salt in the wound for those that really want these.

Guess its all apart of the game.

They don’t care…
I know they don't. But when people mention they talked to their folks within the brand and share info, I always pose that question and never get a reply.

Yes, the information is making this release look terrible. But let's get intel on the constant that remains a problem. That being SNKRS.

You’ve mistaken me for someone who has a horse in the race. My only option to get these would be online whether it’s the app or the secondary market. I hope every size 9 made by JB goes to the secondary market.

Nike is trying to figure out ways to get consumers that aren’t planning to buy Nike products to have the brand loyalty we have. I won’t say “they don’t care” I will say we are all their insurance policy and they know no matter what they can produce a product and we will buy. They are focused on getting the attention from the people who don’t even know who MJ is. That is what is going to make them successful 20 years from now. Not us.

All these bred 1 ads are hopes that someone will ask one of the Brand Loyalist a question about the sneaker then we tell them the story and we are doing a free press run for Nike.

Nah don’t backpedal like Prime Deion now. You stated that there was no way stores were backdooring and Nike would have stock inspectors. The north remembers……

they really should have made more of these. can't have these resellers haulin everything smh

If they were going to do a limited drop there should be ZERO tolerance for this backdoor ********. If you’re Nike and you can’t secure 10,000 pairs of sneakers then I really don’t know what to think other than you don’t care to.

Nike do you really think people stopped caring because of overproduction of ogs? I promise you it was not that. It was seeing you look the other way while Marcus Jordan and Travis Scott move the way that they do. And now the brand itself is moving the same way. It’s unfathomable.
