I just don’t get the strategy behind pissing off brand loyalists. They could have easily done something exclusive to build they hype like making numbered pairs, friends and family special packaging, etc and making a more readily available(but still not massively GR) pair available. Is this supposed to inspire trickle down hype for the Jordan 1s that we don’t want? Did that work when they made banned airship exclusive to Italy?
I understand the concept that eveything isn’t for everyone. Somethings should be exclusive, but they’re playing in our faces with this one.

Why boast about the effort and detail that you put in a shoe when you should have been doing this the whole time? It reminds me of the 2015 remastered gimmick.
Like it was said above, they released the Air ship black and reds (the real banned shoe)in limited quanities to attempt to drive hype for other releases. I dont know if that worked or not really. But I had zero interest in anything but the black and reds. I get their strategy on paper, but I dont like it. To spend money on actual TV time ads just to make the shoe impossible to get? Then brag about the work you finally put into them? Kind of a slap in the face to me more than an appreciation to us.

Would make sense if they were gonna start dropping other 85s in higher quantities just not blk/red, cause then people go for other colorways. Or they planned to drop regular blk/red 1s then you’d get the consolation buyers. This is just extremely limited for no reason. The bootleg 1s dropping right after were never the answer.

I hope this isn’t the model going forward on any 85 highs. I truly enjoy the materials, comfort and etc over the OG Highs. I doubled up on the recent Metallic Red 85’s while they were on steep discount. I just preordered the Bred’s from a resell store for $370. We’ll see if they honor it 
I feel like this is their response to how long the 85 lows and high’s (to include the OG Highs) sat and went on sale by making the Bred’s extremely limited now

Not true.
I bought my 2 pairs from an outlet the day they released and they 1000% sold out. I was there.
Someone else in this thread said a couple outlets were taking phone orders so it sounds like a couple of outlets did not sell out. But those 100% did not sit in every outlet.

They under no circumstances wanted these to “sit” to the point of almost being beyond paranoid about it. There solution? Limit them beyond measure to under 10k pairs to 23 wholesale retailers (not 23 stores only), but 23 different retailers accounts across many stores.
Each likely getting 1-2 size runs.
This release is a huge slap in the face to everyone to start the 40th anniversary. I hope 95% of releases sit this year and go on sale. The brand is so out of touch, they themselves have become greedy by over saturating the market beyond measure.
Then you limit the shoe that got you to the dance and screw the people over? Gross

I remember that day like it was yesterday, even remember that week. First drop they were letting you buy 2 pairs. Got there at 8pm the night before was 5th in line. First 20 people were dudes I knew from my area. Talked to a couple who were copping only 1 pair and asked them to buy me the 2nd pair. Came out with 10 pairs that day. Second release were a bit more limited only 1 pair per person. I had a guy who worked there that morning and had him send me updates on what was left. Everything was gone by noon. Wild thing is I never wore any of the pairs I copped. Traded 1 pair for black laser 4s, traded another for a DB 6 and DB 9. Gave one to the homie, and sold the rest 4 years later at $1k a piece. Looking back i should of kept 1 pair.

What a come up.My outlet only had 1 release total, and it was strictly 1 pair per person. I brought my girl so was able to get 2 pairs. I remember some dude had a wig and got caught getting back in line.
