Guaranteed contracts are the dumbest things ever, you can bet your @%@ there would be a lockout if that was the case.  That is the main reason the NBA is going into a lockout and most likely won't play at least a couple weeks next year.

Comparing the NBA to the NFL is ridiculous, there is no comparison. NFL players are way more liable to occupation hazards than players are in the NBA. The contracts would actually be cheaper for owners because it takes away "sign on" bonuses, it would be better for players because they arent under the pressure to come back too soon to play.

I've been around a lot of NFL players, and a lot of times they shouldn't be playing, but they do because theyre afraid of being cut.
